Are they not thick cut chips in Wetherspoons? If so you'd have to be a right porker to want more than 17 of them!0

Do you have any evidence that Wetherspoon water down their beers or ales or have you made this up? The chain has a particularly high standard in the way they treat real ales and they've done a considerable amount in promoting real ales and real ciders IMO.0 -

Whilst I agree that their foods nothing to shout home about, I think their beers are second to none.0 -
The chips are bloody awful anyway....main problem with beer range is its to big,you can't have 9 different lagers on sale and have the turnover to ensure no keg is more than 5 days old.my ex local has this problem and some lagers are rank..real ales not much better........gave up going there now use proper pub with proper beer couple of miles away0

This means staff may consciously or subconsciously be putting less on a plates.
On a personal note I think you have to be pretty sad to go to somewhere like weatherspoons and count how many chips they give you. Your getting a meal and drink for less than an hours minimum wage.

I can't think of many Wetherspoons that have real ale kegs left for over five days, their turnover is huge. Lagers can be kept for much longer unless you're referring to something more niche. I worked for a rival chain to JDW and I have to say, the real ale supplied by JDW was of a consistently very high standard.
I actually think their food is generally good too. It's cheap and cheerful, inevitably much is fried, microwaved or grilled but I haven't gone in expecting restaurant quality. The JDW near to me charges £4.39 for a pint and a burger and for that I'm not personally expecting anything particularly substantial. But I'd rather have a burger and pint there than McDonalds next door given that they're the same price.0 -

Lagers need to be on for 5 days Max.......hence why slow sellers like tuborg/Coors/Amstel taste like !!!! because they have been on for to long.small kegs hold 88 pints which they have to sell 17/18 pints a day which is very hard when you have 9 lagers and most people ask for more well known brands0

I worked for Wetherspoons a few years ago. Their keg care was second to none and because prices were low beer turnover was high so guest beers never hung around for long. Often to the dismay of regulars. Fish and chips certainly weren't microwaved either but cooked to order.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
