How much is your average monthly electric bill?
Comments
-
Paying about £100/month for gas and electric, so counting electric as probably just over half of that.
2 adults, 3 bedroom house, don't really do much beyond using energy saving bulbs and only having the heating on when it's cold.0 -
im paying and have been paying £200 a month for electric we have gas heating 4 bed bungalow ive been trying to get them out to test meter but no joy any thoughts?0

Gollumspit, 200 plus more for electric!?! We have a four bed bungalow too, and pay 92 per month dual fuel, old inefficient g rated boiler for central heating and hot water, which is about 60 a month, the rest is the electric.
BTW, I'm a sahm with a baby, computer and TV on in the background a fair chunk of the time, and two loads of laundry being done a day, with occasionally tumbling drying nappies.
I'd def get the metre checked out. Or try switching everything off,and see if meter is moving, then switch everything back on one at a time to see what happens? MMaybe get one of those smart metre type things that show how much you're using?0 -
Around £12 per month for electricity. I pay another £20 or so for gas.0

Can't believe how cheap some people get their energy. I've just paid £174 for 2 months (online account with scottish Power) but this is during the Summer with minimal gas. I did price comparison but the 2 companies who came up cheaper I have debts to!!!
We live in a 3 bedroom flat, 2 adults, a toddler and baby. We only have 1 TV which is on for a few hours a day. We can't switch the power off on it (only standby) or the sound stops working! We also have a laptop which is on or charging much of the day. OH works full-time so it's usually just me and kids in house and 3 days a week I work too so we're out with everything off.
Our flat is noisy so the kids have a loud fan in each of their rooms to block out noises and stop them waking in the night. I might have to look into cheaper ways to make white noise.
Our white goods are all a few years old - can't afford to replace them.
Otherwise the bedroom's have nothing electrical in them and we don't really use the lights because it's Summer just now.
Gas doesn't seem to be an issue, we have a quick shower once a day and the kids get a proper bath once every 2nd or 3rd day. We only seem to be using 1-2 gas units per day. Our boiler is 12 years old.
Think our biggest users could be the living room TV on standby all the time and the fans in the kids rooms.0 -

WE roughly pay £31 PCM for electricity and approx. £31.00 PCM for gas with BG.
I think we are `had ` with that.
I am always looking at ways to save.

Just living the quiet life in a small flat. It's just me, so I don't use the washing machine very often. No gadgets really other than my laptop. No heating during the summer and at the moment I'm using cold water only - cold baths, cold washing up - it's just too hot for hot water! I did worry about the gas bill over the winter since I work from home, but I ended up getting a refund and my direct debit lowered.0 -

I am a bit fanatical about wasting energy and my kids even finish my sentence for me as if they leave taps running lights on etc I always shout who is wasting the earth's resources?. It works though.
Well done mate, you are truly an MSE practitioner ....
Do more. You will need to bark more on people here who are wasting electricity ..:)0 -
£130 for dual fuel! Did a comparison recently including on the energy club thing on here and all came up similar of more expensive! I am now switching off a lot of things at the plug! Really want to get an electricity monitor thing so we can see what's costing us so flipping much.Full time working mum to 2 boys
