i previously had one of these cards, and closed to 'tidy up' my file and concentrate on using Amex Cashback and Barclaycard 'Hi5' Cashback cards for spending.

i was planning to re-apply, now that the 'Hi5' is on the way out, but the HHonors card is currently not available..

i hope the change they are making doesnt include the Visa becoming an Amex card.....that would fit with changes Barclays are making, but i hope not

I am also waiting for apply for one of these. I expect they will return as Amex but possibly as duo packs also coming with a Visa or Mastercard.

I don't find Amex acceptance too bad these days - I have the Lloyds Amex and the American Airlines Amex and between them charge about 90% of my spend.
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.
  • I currently have one as part of my CC lineup. Even existing customers are being kept in the dark about the "changes". We have been told that the online servicing will move from the Hhonors microsite to the My Barclaycard site, however.

Well I got an email about mine about a month ago re the changes. Doesn't look like much will change, new card & PIN (which will still be Visa, seemingly) and all Barclaycard stable cards will be online in one place (which is good for me, as I have two Barclaycards as well as the Hilton one).

Same thing is happening to the IHG cards.

yes, F&NC...it does say "changes to the Hilton HHonors Platinum Visa" rather than taking the opportunity to drop the "Visa" part...

and yes, giblet. i am a big Amex fan. i just want this as a back up card....but using it in the few places where Amex is not accepted is key to that.

when i had this card previously one of the nice features was the very good IFP. i hope that won't change.

....i also hope, of course, that they will open a new account for me, with a useful limit :lovethoug

yes, i have 2 Barclaycards too....will soon be down to 1 though, hopefully, and then 'make space' for the HHonors application.

Sorry to bump an old thread. I would suggest people start to read the blog headforpoints. He knows everything that is needed to know about travel benefits and cards. Rob is a nice guy and will help if needed.

I have a hhonnor visa card currently (which is serviced by Barclaycard). I just had a text this morning to say a new card is on its way to me. As this is my only Barclay type credit card I presume it's a new hhonor one. Not aware of a tie up with AmEx.

    it will be, yes.
and yes, it sounds as though the new card is going to be a Visa.
the new account will be accessed via barclaycard.co.uk, rather than via hhonorscard.co.uk
i hope it will still have a relatively long IFP
  • New card is a VISA. The only difference I can see (apart from different number / new PIN etc) is that it is now contactless.

Apart from that - everything appears the same. Can't be used until 23rd June though.
