I've heard a rumour that its now possible to buy BBQs that are on wheels and can be hidden away in a garage.

Anyone who gives a stuff about that should also avoid living next to anyone with -
    A lawnmower
    A big tv
    Children
Any kind of pet (including goldfish)
    Any friends
    A nicotine addiction
A job outside the hours of 8-6

On the other hand, Perhaps the proposed neighbour would not want some sour-faced misery moving in next door anyway given that they'd likely be getting a visit from the police as soon as the sun shone and the burgers came out.
    Unbelievable.

Why is somebody who wants to relax in their own property/garden a "sour faced misery"? We just don't want to live next door to low-class noisy drunks with feral brats.

Neither would anyone, but a brick bbq isn't an indicator of that.

How do hi class people enjoy them selves when the weather's nice? and how would you describe there children?

For the same reason that someone who uses a BBQ is a low-class noisy drunk with feral brats.

I do admit that many australians would fall into this category

So anyone with a built in BBQ, or even likes to have a BBQ, is automatically a low-class noisy drunk with feral brats...

    Nice one....

    Does seem that way.
    BBQs are rather lower class.

Strangely enough, whilst it would not put me off, my previous neighbours used to get the BBQ out the minute the sun was out! I just found it frustrating that the rare times I was at home, I could not put my washing out because of the smells. But the family were rarely loud or intrusive so it was never an issue!

It'd put me off. You know there'll be stinky smoke and you'll have to shut the windows when the weather's good .... and anybody with a brick built one's not going to sit, silently, alone, barbecuing a single burger ... they'll have friends/family, beers, music and noise.... then sit outside until 11pm at night screeching.

It can be hard to enjoy your own outdoor space with that going on so close. You almost feel "guilty" for sitting out there in case they think that you think they should have invited you and are sitting outside as a hint.

I have to disagree with this! We BBQ a lot (at least 2/3 times a week in the summer) and we rarely have people over. More often than not it's just me and hubby, throwing a couple of chicken skewers and a burger on the BBQ, and a glass of wine in the garden. Sometimes my daughter is back from Uni, and sometimes my stepson is with us for the weekend, but they are hardly feral! You can't pigeonhole people because they have a BBQ! :rotfl:
