    They are already profitable en-masse.

You want them to be even more profitable? Isn't that a bit exploitative?
Probably, but isn't a governments primary objective to get the best deal for it's own citizens?

Well to be honest I never think about Europe much, other than as a holiday or work destination. I certainly don't lie awake at night worrying about creeping Federalism! I'm amazed to hear that the good people of Wyndham, Norfolk do!

So what are the conditions like elsewhere that are so awful?

    So it's a protest vote?

It's what I read in the papers, it's what I see and hear in the broadcast media, it's what people I talk to also believe to be the case. Do you think it's all a giant conspiracy and that everything in the garden is actually rosy for everyone from John O-Groats to Penzance ? What are conditions like elsewhere ? To ask such a question, yes you are in a bubble. You might not care or think about the EU but it's going to affect your life big-time whether you do or not. Is it a protest vote ? In part yes, but that's the whole point. If people are protesting it means they're not happy and the more London poo-poos it all the more unhappy they are going to become. Maybe London doesn't care, but sooner or later it's going to have to.

I'm no tax expert but I'm not understanding the connection between leaving the EU and CT?

    This should hopefully explain it.

And this, which suggests Amazons tax avoidance can only be solved at EU level. We could sort it at UK level if we were "on our own".

Has to be said, Amazon is just one in a long line of companies.
    Why?
Becuase we simply do not have the infrastructure to cope.

Why? Voted for what? What exactly is it that bothers you?
I think I have already answered this haven't I? I don't know how else to answer if you feel I haven't answered suitably.

In other words you have no interest in European politics. Or the potential long consequences for the UK.

    We already are.

We've managed to create a system of EU immigration that costs us virtually nothing to administer, while attracting a balance of immigrants from the EU that deliver a hefty profit to the state.

Or perhaps it's because immigration has made London the world leading city that it is today, and created a dynamic, thriving economic powerhouse.

yes there are many possible views and in most situations there are positives and negatives

if I was asked to write a spoof to convince people that the pro EU people don't listen (like Nick and LibDems) many of your posts would do perfectly.

oh yes, this is exiting when you're in Norfolk!

So in all seriousness are people voting UKIP 'cos they have nothing better to do out there in the non-urban areas? Or is there a "real" problem?

So in your view people are voting UKIP because of housing?

    What? No.

I was answering a specific point another poster raised regarding the expansion of the UK to accomodate an expansion of immigrants.

With respect, I think you need to read responses.

In my view people are voting UKIP because the infrastructure of the country ie the NHS, schools and housing have not been invested in to an adequate level by successive governments and immigrants are an easy part of the community to point the finger at. People want easy solutions not complicated ones and that's what UKIP offer, a supposed easy solution to what is an extremely complex multi layered problem.

If there were an abundance of school places, social housing and jobs in the traditional 'trades' UKIP wouldn't be as popular.

    But it's not your reality?
Do you think it's all a giant conspiracy and that everything in the garden is actually rosy for everyone from John O-Groats to Penzance ?

    No idea - that's why I'm asking.
What are conditions like elsewhere ? To ask such a question, yes you are in a bubble.

So give me an answer and enlighten me.
You might not care or think about the EU but it's going to affect your life big-time whether you do or not.

Leaving or staying in the EU???? Swings and roundabouts - it ceratinly wouldn't keep me awake either way and I doubt it's going to affect my life "big-time" either way.
Is it a protest vote ? In part yes, but that's the whole point. If people are protesting it means they're not happy and the more London poo-poos it all the more unhappy they are going to become. Maybe London doesn't care, but sooner or later it's going to have to.

I still don't know why your unhappy.
