I've just had a dishwasher fire . It went all overcast and kids decided they wanted to watch a film rather than go out for a walk (thank goodness). They went to the shop and got their sweets, then put the film on. I heard a couple of pops and went to the kitchen to investigate. There was smoke coming out of the machine and DD followed me. I told her to grab the fire blanket and then shut the dr door and open the back door. I managed to open the DW and wrap the fire blanket around the door. I held it there for a few minutes and thought it was out so undid it and the found flames further down. Was able to blow them out thankfully. So within 5 minutes of hearing the first pop, the fire was out and dealt with and pictures up on Facebook to warn people.
It was so quick that my smoke alarms didn't even go off.
I feel a bit shaky now. I also entered a competition this morning to win a new kitchen! Had the fire spread, I could have got a new kitchen from the insurance but we could also have lost everything in the house.
Thankfully, I got the fire out before it had any effect on anything. But we will be on dish washing duty from now until we get a new kitchen as I'm not going to replace the DW yet (yikes)

I know LW! I usually put it on before I go to bed after a night shift. Plus, we were about to go out for a walk but it clouded over and the kids wanted to stay in. We could have returned to a gutted shell .Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Just seen the pics Kaz, how frightening! Just as well you stayed home, and like you say, a reminder to use our appliances whilst we are around. God forbid you had all been asleep - doesn't bear thinking about!

Kiddies have had a ball at club today, so both very happy and tired out :T I got DS a new onesie while out, he's now a dinosaur instead of a tiger. At least this fits, it's big enough to last through next winter lol.
DD is not left out either, she is sporting a Princess Sofia tshirt with a tutu type hem. I got myself what I thought was a top for my hols but is actually a play suit lol. I look a complete 6ugger in it :rotfl:Bossymoo

Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
I've had a productive day.. all that rubbish out of the girls room.. lots more to go through but the end is in sight!
I then sorted the pan and baking cupboards .. the baking stuff has gone to the back of the cupboard and the pans I use regularly in a much more accessible cupboard. I had 8 pan lids for pans I no longer own so they've been binned along with a squished manky mixing bowl and a cracked cake box.
I was all lovely and cleaned inside the cupboards too!!
Next task is to finish the girls room and make a start on the landing!! I wanted to do all this at easter and previous half term but everyone was ill!!!

Well done Pigpen. Kaz, what a scary story, makes you not want to leave anything on unattended!
Although the house is fairly clean and tidy I am still not happy with it and feel like I should be doing more. Think I am losing the plot. DS and OH are out so we have had a sneaky fish and chip tea. Chilling out on the sofa now, the house seems really cold though. Tempted to put the heating on!
Going to tackle the garden tomorrow. It is really bad, starting to get a bit embarrassed by it and I am not sure how it got into such a mess - it used to be quite nice! Hoping we might rope the kids in too.0
