Thick people on ebay

Can I suggest that some of you might like to while away an hour or two browsing notalwaysright.comDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Its not only Ebay, yes, but Ebay does seem to particularly attract them. We have far more problems with Ebay customers, than any other sales channel we use and it is usually down to dishonesty or stupidity. For instance our loss rate on Ebay for items going 'missing' is far higher than our direct sales, where virtually nothing goes missing.
I have to say, and nothing against the population of Kent, but a ridiculous amount of issues seem to centre around customers from Kent!0 -

I love this site, it makes me so glad my current job requires no interaction with the general public. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Even writing that in the description it could come up if searching LCD including description. Why not write what it is rather than what it isn't?
You couldn't be bothered with sending one photo to get rid of it yet you made the effort to put it on ebay and have the bother of it still being in your house? Plus did you not have to take a photo for ebay anyway?
It costs petrol and takes time and hassle. Just because something is free doesn't mean you take it just because it's there, especially for bigger items.
You expected a woman to take wardrobes she didn't want just because they were free? What do you expect her to do with them? She's obviously going to have to buy some she does want and it's not like wardrobes are easy to take away or are small enough to store in your house and forget about while you decide what to do with them.
Not to mention she'd have no idea if anyone else would want them - you may have had a lot of interest and she'd be taking them away from someone else who really needed wardrobes and would have loved them for free.
Even if you argue there were photos of them, colours don't always look the same in real life and even describing them not everyone sees colours the same or you can think it sounds the right colour and then seeing it realise it's not. Considering they were free she went and had a look to see and as it turns out they weren't right. I don't see how you can blame her for that. I'm sure many would do the same.
To a certain extent I disagree. If something is free then generally you can't have exactly what you want. If this is a requirement then go to the shop and out your hand in your pocket. Beggars cant be choosers and all that.
In this case, person said they deffo would have regardless. Did not say I might have them depending if I like the colour.
Im sorry but if Im giving it away I want it gone. I dont want to spend ages with people coming to my house to view. You say you want it you take it.0 -

So you go to collect? Good for you.
Hate it when people dont read, screw up your auction and then get an email sorry didnt know it was that far. Does my chunk in.0 -

You may not be able to get exactly what you want when it's free, but that doesn't mean you take something you really don't want just because it is free.
They might have gone to the shop and paid out after - doesn't mean it wasn't worth checking out a free item first. Why pay when something free may be just what you're looking for?
Doesn't mean they weren't thinking that or that they thought the colour was different to what it is. I imagine if they said they really wanted it regardless it was to be sure you kept hold of it. It may have been they always knew there was a chance of them not having it or they may have thought it was what they wanted until they actually saw it.
Least that woman bothered to show up and give you a reason. A lot of people don't even bother turning up or they're late and cause even more hassle.
It might be annoying and I get that you want it gone but it is still your item. You can't expect someone to take something they don't want and would have a lot of hassle with just because it's free and they thought/said they really wanted it and you don't want the hassle of it anymore.
Whenever you're getting rid of something and people are coming to view it's going to waste some of your time - if you just want it gone without too much hassle then dump it or give it to charity or whatever.0 -

Used to be a good read, sadly it seems to have been overrun with far fetched stories which usually involve employee gaining a round of applause from the customers.
Sadly, I don't believe half of what I read on there anymore

I guess they could have asked for a picture first.
Personally I think it is perfectly reasonable to be picky about something that is free. Even if you don't pay the person who is giving it away, it is still costing you in time and fuel.
Freecycle and the likes is all about keeping things out of landfill. Collecting something that you don't want doesn't help that objective.
[To be fair, though, if it was me and I'd turned up to collect something that was as described but turned out not to be what I'd wanted I would offer to take it away anyway and re-list it myself.]0 -

Hello OP, you say you're in Wales if you're anywhere near Pembrokeshire these guys will gladly take furniture (I'm not sure about electricals) off your hands.
