Thick people on ebay

Happens all the time...
Advertised an old CRT TV. Put in the title "this is not a flat screen LCD", put in big bold letters the same.
Put "must be collected from south wales"
You can guess - get winning bidder from london. Winning Bid £5.
Then sorry I want a flat screen and Im in london. I dont want it.
Really annoys me how people can be so thick. Although sometimes I think greed takes over for things like this - they see TV and think wow bargain £5 then realise they should have read it.
Do they really think people sell 32" LCD TVs for £5!!!!!

We have one knocking about somewhere. Wouldn't dream of selling it. Give it to charity or put it on free cycle. I'm pretty sure you're not so hard up that you'd miss the fiver (minus fees).Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

Put in the title "this is not a flat screen LCD",

That would mean anyone searching for a flat screen tv this would come up! It is against ebay rules to list like that. You should have put that bit in the description not the title.
So I can see how the bidder found it and got confessed but admit they also should have read the title correctly.0 -

Tried freecycle - no-one wanted it! I dont want the money just thought someone would want - way too heavy for me to lug into car on my own, take out of car at dump.
All I got was one women who said she wasn't willing to waste her time unless I send he a pic first. Couldn't be bothered with that.
Surely, if its free, you come and get and if its really not for you, you pass it on or dump it. Not as if its costing you anything!
Thats the trouble with freecycle. I've advertised wardrobes in good condition, rather than taking up the dump. I remember once - some woman phoned and said please dont dump I want then turned up and said nah not shade of brown im looking for. In the end it was more hassle for me hanging around waiting and they went up the dump anyway.0 -

Also, some people in London think there is nowhere else.... no idea where Wales is for example (they might think it's at the end of some tube line maybe).
However ... yes, there are some thick people everywhere... even on ebay.
Your right. I had someone buy a car off me once. Then moaned because he thought it was in Kent. Wanted me to knock £50 off for his train fare- yeh right ok. I said tell you what I'll pick you up from train station for free.
When he turned up, he admitted he'd bought a single but still wasnt willing to go ahead with the sale unless I knocked the £50 off. Not exactly bargaining from a position of power!
He paid full in the end. Then asked me how to get to kent from wales. Told him -across the big bridge, keep going till you get to london, then turn right.0 -

^ This.
Even writing that in the description it could come up if searching LCD including description. Why not write what it is rather than what it isn't?

You couldn't be bothered with sending one photo to get rid of it yet you made the effort to put it on ebay and have the bother of it still being in your house? Plus did you not have to take a photo for ebay anyway?Surely, if its free, you come and get and if its really not for you, you pass it on or dump it. Not as if its costing you anything!

It costs petrol and takes time and hassle. Just because something is free doesn't mean you take it just because it's there, especially for bigger items.
You expected a woman to take wardrobes she didn't want just because they were free? What do you expect her to do with them? She's obviously going to have to buy some she does want and it's not like wardrobes are easy to take away or are small enough to store in your house and forget about while you decide what to do with them.
Not to mention she'd have no idea if anyone else would want them - you may have had a lot of interest and she'd be taking them away from someone else who really needed wardrobes and would have loved them for free.
Even if you argue there were photos of them, colours don't always look the same in real life and even describing them not everyone sees colours the same or you can think it sounds the right colour and then seeing it realise it's not. Considering they were free she went and had a look to see and as it turns out they weren't right. I don't see how you can blame her for that. I'm sure many would do the same.0 -
Ive driven 2 car sellers mad this weekend. One on ebay and one on Autotrader.
Ebay one putting a list of cars that its not to get more traffic from searches of other vehicles. And the autotrader one advertised at one price but says thats an error when you call. No you intentionally put the lower price to get to the top of the search.
Rainy weekend, Boredom and unlimited free minutes. I need a life

As said by a few above, the fact you are stating what it 'isn't' aswell will cause confusion. Clearly anyone with half a brain would see bold lettering 'This is not a flat screen LCD TV' but these are ebay buyers we're talking about.
It is best to treat all customers like idiots, that way the small percentage that actually are won't be confused!!0 -

And some sellers are idiots. Should we treat all sellers as idiots to?
Ask a few questions, just to be sure buying the right item size etc. What do you get? The wrong size!!!! It's 50/50 Buyers and sellers can be bad as each-otherAlways open a case if your unhappy with a transaction :money:0 -

yes you are right
I did actually notice my mistake when my post was quoted, however it was a bit late to correct it then as it had already been quoted and left for all to see!
There is probably a thread running somewhere with all these on, at least I will be famous now if it appears in it
