new kitten vomiting

Anyone got any suggestions?
I got an 8 week old kitten yesterday. Very lively, eating well. She did 3 runny loos (w=not surprising for a kitten just started in her new home). Since about 7pm last night she has also been vomiting. I tried her with chicken and rice which has stayed in her for 5 hours but that has also come up. She must have an empty tummy by now.
She did lick my custard cream yesterday, which may well have upset her system, but I just don;t know what to do. She is playing happily at the moment and showing no signs of lethargy.
I’m thinking to wait as long as I can before trying her with more chicken and rice (ie before she starts asking). Do people think that’s OK?
I am thinking that if there’s no improvement by tomorrow I’ll take her to emergency vets.
She is eating the same food that she had at her home so it’s not a change of food. Once she's settled I shall start swapping her onto a better brand of food (she's currently on Whiskas which I loathe).
Thanks for any suggestions.

call the vet - kittens can lose a lot of fluid though vomiting and diarrhea just like babies.
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

I agree with scaredy cat, kittens dehydrate VERY quickly.

How did you get on at the vets? Hope everything is ok!

Thanks for asking. Vet thinks she has gastric bug. Breeder says she was fine before I took her yesterday, so at least I caught it early. She was given an anti-emetic and some special food. She has had horrid runny loo tonight but that's an improvement on vomited it up. She's slept most of the time since I got her home. I'm hoping that's the side effect of her injection. Poor little lamb is on my lap as I type.

Am really worried. She hasn't been sick again but she has had several boots of mucussy runny diarrhoea through the night. She's turning down food this am. Currently on my lap dozing. Think it's back to emergency vet for us. :-(

Poor thing. It isn't nice to have a sick kitten.

Ours a month or so after we had him had bad diarrhoea. We had another cat at the time so he happily slept inside his carry case. (They didn't get on)
Well we didn't realize he had a bad stomach. 4am it was and i am not sure how we found out probably the smell or we checked on him and noticed. But he basically pooed himself , the carry case covered in runny poo and we had to chuck it.
Not only that poor thing had it all over his side.

He was ill and then we had to give him a bath in the sink and he was terrified. He clung onto the kitchen curtains for dear life. His miaows were gut renching. I still remember it a year later , poor thing it was horrible.

That was just one time and i was really upset. Nothing compared to how your kitten must be.
Again i hope she feels better soon and the vet has good news.

Thanks for the good wishes xnatillyx
Your story sounds terrible. It must have been really upsetting for you. Imogen has just had a little play and eaten a tiny bit of food. How to get her to sleep in a bit and then see what her loo does before arranging another very trip.

It's worth asking your vet if she can have some fluids under the skin. Also ask about things like Prokolin and Lectade. Which special diet has your vet given you?
