Swoggi penny auction site or scam?

  • I thought I was following a recommendation from MSE to use swoggi and have ended up being scammed.
They say that they cannot refund for all the reasons listed before but on checking my account, I have no current auctions or bids so how can I affect any other customers?
Swoggi refuse to return my money and keep replying with the same standard response, like others have said.
I would never go for a gambling site and feel the MSE had been abused and is causing members to be abused. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION.
I need help to get my money back and close my swoggi account.
  • I just asked for a refund and they said ok, except for a £15 'HANDLING' charge, so I cut my losses and accepted the offer.

Where was it recommended on MSE? I know one link goes to a site called moneyexpert which can be confusing.

  • Hi,

I too have been sucked into the £50 scam, where you enter a code for a free voucher, go through paypal to activate, no confirmation of a pending fee and then a suprise payment of £50 showing up through paypal. This was 2 days ago. I have emailed Swoggi with no luck in them changing their policy rule of refunds. Therefore I opened a claim straight away with paypal. Paypal have accepted the claim and have now refunded the £50, although they are still investigating. I think this is an end to it, so we shall wait and see. If you have been scammed this way too, then try paypal after you have tried Swoggi. Make a claim, not a dispute and describe it as an unauthorised payment which is exactly what it is. Good luck!

For !!!! sake, why do people keep getting sucked in by these conmen? :(
  • I'm wondering if anyone actually believes this sort of thing:
    http://www.consoblogger.com/uk/how-to-get-a-90-percent-discount-on-an-ipad-imac-or-iphone/

People are expected to believe that the person concerned signed up to Swoggi and won the first two items they bid on, getting a £400+ ipad for £57 and an ipad air for £91.

"There's a sucker born every minute" is the Barnum quote. Sadly that's always been the case. As I said earlier in this thread, they prey on those who can't afford to lose money, quite a reprehensible company.

Report to Trading Standards and any advertisements you see to the Advertising Standards Authority.

It wouldn't be too difficult to make one of these sites that was genuine with a better chance of success. This lot seem intent on just ripping people off.

This is how people get sucked in.
  • i have just asked for a refund which they aknowledged immediately quoting their t&c's and their £15 deduction. they also ask to reply by email, but when i tried the 'reply' button i notice that it has been disabled! i am using firefox. i might be jumping to conclusions but it looks like they are blocking my ability to emal them. STAY WELL AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!!
