Swoggi.co.uk is run from a server in the UK if you want to loose money gamble. Please read on:

"The UK address. 145-157 St John Street, London, EC1V 4PY.According to a BBC report, this is the address used by a company which sells its use as a registered office address. Because there does not seem to be an obligation to check that users of the service are legitimate companies, criminals are attracted to it. According to the BBC, the address is in common use among fake companies operating "boiler room" fake share scams."

SOPHORA MEDIA LTD 145-157 ST JOHN STREET, LONDON, ENGLAND, EC1V 4PY, This company (Company No. 07202713) the account is dormant. The Swoggi Trade mark is registered to REEF INTERACTIVE LTD 145 -157 St John Street, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 4PY this company is NOT registered as a Limited Company in the UK and therefore is trading illegally . On the bottom of their email it states: Copyright 2009-2010 Juniper Global - All rights reserved. SWOGGI is a registered trademark This Company JUNIPER GLOBAL (UK) LTD, 145-157 ST JOHN STREET, LONDON , ENGLAND , EC1V 4PY, Company No. 07209689 was Dissolved 24/07/2012.

Having researched Swoggi over the internet, this practice looks more and more like a gambling site as well as a scam with the same people winning 8 times a month, their activity has been recorded over the past 9 weeks, you can see for yourself below their activity, it is suspiciously like insider trading which is illegal across the world, working out of virtual offices, in both the Uk and Singapore, no contact telephone numbers and no response to emails. Username GANDALF is very peculiar 4 items purchased this month August 2014 were all £1 bids on swoggi.co.uk and yet GANDALF somehow was accumulating bid spending of 50P per bid, when everyone else were being charged £1.00. see for yourself: Sadly Hyperlinks ar not allowed

(360 £1 bids = £180)

(638 £1 bids = £319 )
(440 £1 bids = £220)

(784£1 bids = £392)

This also applies to username: claudiodalsa: (2148 £1 bids = £1074 ) now why would someone place 2148 £1 bids in addition place 1920 free bids ? on an item that you could purchase for £1449? The final price of this item was £203.46 remove the decimal point and you have your answer, the capital asset when sold was £20549.46. Who would pay £2351.46 for an item costing new £1449,?

If you check out the Swoggi UK Facebook page you will see that wap24 won two items one in £ sterling and one in Euros.

In my opinion it is very hard to win one item using a penny auction within one country, but when you are competing with 13 it is nigh impossible and yet many users rack up 8 wins per month and they are,:

Username: karinebo39
Username : mistertarzan
Username: titus123

New multiple winning usernames appear every month. these people can only be using insider knowledge.

Or complete works of fiction by the website owners?

I saw the so-called "article" spammed over multiple websites (including the Daily Mail) and it's a copy and paste job over at least two of these sites (madbid and swoggi).

"I heard that I could get *latest item of must-have gadgetry* for pennies. I decided to do a test and found that *scam website* was the best site. I won X, thought it was pure luck, then bid on and won Y and got free credits using *insert code*. Site is amazing and everyone is getting *gadget* for 10% of the RRP."

The madbid advertising on the radio is very bad- I have tried reporting it but can't seem to get a complaint through. It implies that these £30 iphones and such like are just there for the taking, not that you have to basically gamble to win something at odds probably worse than a casino.

Everyone needs to report these if they feel any ad is misleading

The "articles" have been reported and complaints upheld by the asa in March.

This site sounds the same as Madbid. You pay for bids and each auction has a different rate. When they advertise how cheap an item went for, they don't include the cost of the bids that were used to achieve this. I tried madbid and lost. I am sure that half the time you are bidding against an employee of the site with nothing to lose. Swoggi is a scam the same as Madbid. They operate the same way. Learn from my mistake and stay away.

Interesting that user name gandalf appears on Swoggi. He also wins a lot on Madbid.

I got £35 of my £50 back, not a perfect solution but a pragmatic one.

Part of the reason I got caught is that when I paid by PayPal I didn't notice that I didn't get the normal PayPal repeat screen which confirms the amount of the charge; so i didn't realise until later that I had committed to pay £50.
