Strangely off topic here but I've got a random question, what happens to items that are unclaimed or unable to deliver at the Royal Mail? Do they auction it off? Surely they've got to do something with it, it can't just stay there?

They go to a place in Belfast known as the DLO......Dead letter office

Send it back to sender Maybe :D
I've done some digging & items they can't deliver & cannot return to senders actually do get auctioned! There was a story about someone buying a £10,000 picture for £20 via RM auctions although think that's BS but still. They apparently do it on eBay as well, how cool is that? Must try to find their ID because "there could be gold in them there hills"

I have forgotten to thank Debz8 I think it was my laptop table arrived today. :T

I even screwed it together myself and I am using it now, no hot knees for me anymore. :D

I did accidentally put lappie on my knees this morning and left one is still really sensitive, sent me through the roof in less than a minute. :(

The DLO place I mentioned do the best they can to reunite the mail with the intended recipient, if possible. If not, they will return to sender if possible. They have pieces of Mail there that is precious/emotional/some other reason they keep it. There's lots of stories of them re-uniting Mail with people years later.

It's something I came across in the course of some work many years ago
