We need new kitchen too , it will wait.
Last payment I called bank to advise. Advisor say oh you have another payment here, what would you like me to do with it ?
"Buy yourself a new bag and shoes love ! " was thinking ... eh how's about you pay down my mortgage please.
Asked her why not done automatically like normal she said she didn't know. They really don't want it back do they ?
Letter should be in soon. Not joining grizzly, I have a least a years supply of razors x
It does worry me sometimes that the people who work in the banks often don't seem to be as bright as I would wish them to be, and yet they're the ones holding onto my cash!
I thought it was ironic that when we had the initial mortgage meetings they were saying 'well, just so you realise, if you don't overpay then you'll have this mortgage for 40 years' and making it sound like they were looking out for our best interests, and yet in reality they'd love it if we took 40 years to pay it back, as we'd have paid nearly 3 times what the house is worth by then!
I'm with you on the razor front, I got 2 boxes of venus fancy ones RTC £1-odd instead of £16 in T a few months back, nothing wrong with them apart from the boxes having split slightly! :T
p.s. this will be our new kitchen (minus the green walls!) http://www.housetohome.co.uk/product-idea/picture/budget-kitchens-10-of-the-best/6 We got 20% off and £20 off every £100 spend, so it's a bargain! It's not my 'forever' kitchen because it's not my 'forever' house, but it will make a nice chance from green and green with green on top!0 -
I thought you must be a fellow Chepstowlian when you said you could see the bridge! MSE is a small world sometimes
I didn't realise Caldicot castle is closed, what happened? Is it for repairs by any chance? It was looking pretty ropey last time I went!
Ooh how exciting I thought I was all alone here :rotfl:
We'll have to have a MSE meet-up in T's :j
They're doing some building works at Caldicot, it's due to reopen mid/end June I think - wish they'd hurry up my DS loves it there0 -

Ah, my childhood homeland
Whereabouts are you actually staying if you don't mind my asking? Some places are a lot easier/harder to get to, depending on whereabouts you'll be. Hay is lovely, hopefully you like second-hand books!
I'd definitely recommend Symonds Yat, if you're at the top you can see peregrine falcons nesting in the cliffs, there's usually an RSPB bloke there with binoculars if you're interested, and you can walk alongside the river, cross over a bridge after a couple of miles, walk back and then pay about a quid to sit in a boat and get towed across the river towards a very nice pub called the Saracen's Head
I'd also add Tintern Abbey to the 'to do' list, it's really old and full of history, and there also happens to be a nice pub opposite (can you sense the theme here?)
I had to smile at the T's comment though PD, I have never heard any of the shops in the 'stow being referred to as 'decent' before :rotfl:
Thanks for the ideas. We love second handbooks, and castles. We nearly stayed in Hay itself, but I remember Monmouth as being lovely, or it was, 15 years ago! Our nearest pub will be the Inn at Pennallt, 10 minutes walk away from where we stay, which sounds good. We have been to all the big castles, but it was a while ago, and we will have to revisit some again. I am particulary liking the quirky suggestions of places to visit. Thanks everyone!I am not young enough to know everything.0
