Hello
I am looking for advice, guidance or help with getting a refund from an online games company. Last month I bought in-game virtual products using a visa debit card and were delivered but the game is going bust on the 13th of June. I was told that they lost their licence and therefore in theory, I paid for something that I cannot legally have. At the moment they are offering compensation between 20 - 100% of the virtual currency I paid to be transferred to a different game. Once again I was told that this game is a counterfeit and has a law suit against them. I do not have the proof of these accusations yet and furthermore it is an american company so I do not know which process is required or what would cover me if I made a claim.
I spoke to someone who was successful with receiving a refund through Paypall and he said the 'stop notice and compensation' on their site was proof enough to show they lost their licence and make a claim but I am not yet sure if it is good enough. He also said my claim should stipulate I paid for Naruto and because they lost their licence, they want to credit anywhere between 20 - 100% on some other game that is not Naruto.
From my understanding of chargeback, I know that it would cover; company going bust and fraud but I am not sure if technical fraud would count for a claim?
I haven't made a request for a refund with the games company yet as I fear to ruin any chances I have before I use the right process to get a refund.
I want to know who would be best to get a refund from? games company, payment well (payment merchant), Natwest (my bank)
Which process I can take for a better chance of a successful refund?
Any additional advice?

Don't see the point of your thread tbh, you already said someone you knew was successful claiming through paypal so why are you complicating things. Start the paypal claim, no one on here can give you any better info than someone who has already been successful.0

I think op paid by debit card directly, not via paypal. Would explain his uncertainty anywayYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I paid through payment wall.
I want to know if I have something in my favour or at all a chance for a refund.0 -
You bought you received so legally you have the product .
At some time in the future you say that the product will no longer work .
Another problem is that the product is electronic .
Whatever route you choose you are going to have problems and probably best to try via the payment method you used .0 -
