How long to obtain a MAC code from Pipex?

I recently changed from pipex to sky, the 18th of december to be exact, I rang pipex on the 0800 number and the scottish lady asked me why I was leaving and then just said ok you'll receive your mac within 5 days by post, it came on the 5th day and I have swapped over no problems. I am just waiting my final bill from then now and then I'll cancel the direct debit.0

I got my mac code in October and moved over to O2 on the 6th November. Pipex acknowledge that I asked for the code but are saying that I havent used it and they are still charging me. Unfortunately my payment doesnt appear to be Direct Debit as its not listed on my bank account or I would cancel it. Having a right pain trying to get my money back.

This is a very common problem with Pipex where they continue to charge you after you have left them. (The issue is caused by their Provisioning department)
If you haven't already done so, raise an ISPA complaint.

Follow the procedure. You may have to raise a 2nd and even 3rd complaint.
Tiscali High Level Complaints team will eventually contact you usually within a fortnight. Take down the case officer's contact phone details when they phone. We found them to be very helpful and you can seek compensation for inconvenience caused and the earlier cost of the premium rate phonecalls you had to make to their Pipex Customer (non)services in trying to resolve the problem.0 -

I use this to make calls to these ridiculous 0870 numbers:
https://www.saynoto0870.com. Pipex is listed somewhere there.
Hope it helps. x0 -

Couldn't agree with you more! I'm still awaiting a refund from Sept 08!. Bravo to everyone leaving Pipex. Trust me, it's the best possible decision you could ever make. :beer:0 -
GETTING MONEY BACK FROM PIPEX QUICKLY
I have a situation where like others, Pipex took £100 from my account ( The free wireless router was charged at £50, when I rang to complain I was told the money would be refunded and router sent. The reality was that they took another £50 and still failed to send router.
Hours of premium rate calls failed to resolve the mistake
The way to get your money back is to contact your bank and get them to refund the money (see the small print of the Direct Debit Scheme)but also advise pipex you have cancelled d/d.
The bank immediately refund but a month later pipex reset up the D/D and took the £100 again !
I contacted the bank, had an instant refund and made sure a note was put on my account not to accept any D/D requests from pipex.
The saga is ongoing but its a quick way for people who need the money back in their bank account0 -

I have been trying--mainly by email (lots of them) but also by post and phone--to get a usable (i.e. not out of date) MAC out of them since, I think, November 21 2008. I still haven't got it, and I think they have stopped replying to me. Is this a record? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Sorry to bounce such an old thread - but I was reading it while on hold to Pipex after a frustrating call about paying for my broadband. I've been with Pipex for some years - no problems until my debit card was renewed - I had a letter telling me that my phone line would be blocked if I did not pay the outstanding amount....
Now, I had not been paying much attention but was sure I did NOT have Pipex as my call provider and a 30 minute call to some poor lass in India (I'd guess) ensued when she told me I could not pay using my debit card - only credit card or direct debit. It transpired that I could make a one-off payment using it. So I did, having decided that I could not put up with this level of service any more and that I would get my MAC code and find another provider.
Straight onto Pipex Cancellations department (using the freephone 0800 9121649) and asked for my MAC code. A relatively quick chat with the assistant at the other end explaining the problem got him offering me a quicker line speed (where I am will only allow at best 2Mb/s - but we currently have 512 kb/s!) and a reduction in monthly cost from £15.60 to £7.99.
Have to wait to see if this all goes smoothly - but it looks to be worth complaining!
Edit - and I set up the £7.99 payment using my debit card.....!0
