    Hi I've bren following this forum and son is due to find out what school he gets into on Saturday. .my query is if a school takes in both Aqe and the Gl scores how does the school decided what scores to take. Confused .com lol .
    :eek::eek::eek:

    I think that they would take the higher of the 2 scores. I think that when a school takes both, they band the scores and it would the higher band that would be taken into consideration for placing. Thats the benefit of doing both so that there are essentially 2 chances when it comes to schools who accept both scores. Best of luck for Saturday

    I have heard that primary schools knows this week about what secondary schools the kids are accepted into, does anyone know if this is correct?

    Very true, I work in the primary school my son attended and the principal doesn't know any sooner than the parents.

    Given that the Primary Principals are responsible for lodging all the completed transfer forms with the Education Board by a certain date in February, I wonder does each Primary Principal then receive an email (before our letters arrive ) confirming all the post primary placements for their P7 pupils?

    My DD transferred 4 years ago and when she went into school the Monday after the letters arrived, her teacher (unusally) was out walking about the playground before the bell rang to chat to kids and make sure that those who didn't get their first choice were not upset. Hence the teacher clearly knew where all the kids were going without having to ask.

    Hi flymetothemoon, no I saw a copy of the email that is sent to the headmasters from the education board. The heads can get a copy of which child got which school either sent to the school address or to their home address on the Saturday morning.

    Does the letters just say the school you get into.
    Say you get your 2nd choice school do they give a reason as to why you didn't get into your 1st preference.
    I so hope my son gets his 1st choice if school or he will be devested
  • The letter will be from the school which has accepted your child. You do not get an explanation about why a child didn't get their 1st choice. If the school's postmark is on the envelope you will know which school your child is being offered before you even open the letter.

    When my son did it he received a letter from the education board with the name of his school and a separate welcome pack from the school. This one had the school postmark so he knew straight away before opening the letter which school he got
