    Another question about bus passes....does anyone know what Slemish College is classed as?
    It is integrated,has a grammar stream and also a non grammar stream.
    Our daughter has the right results to get her in via the transfer process to the grammar stream,so does this mean she is applying to go to an integrated grammar,which means she will be entitled to a free bus pass,as there are no other integrated grammars near us?

    Mr Bun
    Here is the section from NEELB's Transfer 2015 Guide re transport:
    hope it is helpful :)

    [FONT= ]IV Transport Assistance to Post-Primary Schools
    [FONT= ]Please note that the rules governing eligibility for transport assistance may alter during your child’s time at any particular school and this should be taken into consideration when [FONT= ]choosing schools to list as preferences on the Transfer Form.
    [FONT= ]
    The Board has a statutory responsibility for the provision of a transport service to assist the [FONT= ]attendance of pupils, resident in Northern Ireland who attend a grant-aided school. The Board’s
    [FONT= ]present policy on the provision of transport assistance is set out below.

    [FONT= ]A pupil whose permanent home address is located over three miles from the nearest suitable postprimary school, (measured by the nearest available route) is entitled to transport assistance. A
    ‘suitable school’ [FONT= ]is defined as:-
    [FONT= ]
    Secondary
    [FONT= ]Maintained, Controlled, Integrated, Irish Medium.
    [FONT= ]Grammar [FONT= ]denominational and non-denominational.

    [FONT= ]Slemish College, Ballymena, St Killian’s College, Carnlough and St Patrick’s College, Maghera:-
    Parents of all pupils seeking admission to Slemish College, Ballymena, St. Killian’s College, Carnlough and St Patrick’s College, Maghera should note that special arrangements exist in
    [FONT= ]relation to these schools as they have a Grammar stream approved by the Department of [FONT= ]Education. Parents whose children obtain admission to the Grammar stream [FONT= ]MUST [FONT= ]provide written
    [FONT= ]evidence from the school that their child has been accepted into the Grammar stream. This [FONT= ]essential information [FONT= ]MUST be submitted with a pupil’s transport application [FONT= ]form; otherwise it will [FONT= ]be treated as an application for transport assistance to the non-grammar stream.

  • For anyone interested.. We got her raw scores today, her raw score out of her best two papers was 82% which gave her a final score of 106 with a Sept birthday. 82% is lower than what she was getting in her practice papers but it got a high enough score that we know she should have no problem getting into her first choice grammar.

    Hey Veggie Northern Ireland

    You were quick off the mark there! I didn't think AQE would reply to anyone that quickly at this stage as I thought they'd be busy with other queries just after the issuing of the results.

    Anyway, I posted my letter a few days ago asking for my DS's raw scores and I'll post the info on here if/when I get a response from AQE. I think the more people that ask for their raw scores and share them here the better, to help other folks understand the scoring system ( if we'll ever understand it!) Did AQE give you the actual score achieved out of 64 in each paper?

    Sugarmummy- I phoned AQE Office and they told me to email them (aqeoffice1@yahoo.co.uk) with child's name, primary school, address and AQE candidate number and tell them that you are requesting your child's RAW score. I emailed on Monday and recieved on Wednesday.

    Yes flymetothemoon they sent a letter with her score out of 64 for each of the three tests. Her lowest score was paper 1, paper 2 & 3 were both the same score. Just goes to show... She was confident that she had done well in paper 1 but wasn't as sure about paper 2 because she left out a question but the scores were opposite.

  • Thank you veggie Northern Ireland! Will send of an email and see, i have quite a few friends as well as my middle child doing the AQE this year and it would give us a good idea what we should be aiming for 😀

    Thanks flymetothemoon,going by that information,provided our daughter does get in to the grammar stream,she will be entitled to a free bus pass,happy days:j
  • Glad to hear that Mr Bun.
    I just hope O"Dowd doesn't change the rules before September cos I too am hoping for a free bus pas for my son and my daughter already has one, I wouldn't want to have to pay for 2 bus passes come September!

    Got an email this morning from the AQE office to say there has been an unforeseen influx for requests of raw scores so it may take a week to 10 days to get the result.

    Hi, got my sons scores. November Birthday, 78 in AQE. Last few months practise papers were in 70%s, some 80%s. Above average Pims and PIEs. Scores in top two test papers on day of AQE around 54%. No sense at all. Practise paper scores around AQE period - 75%.:mad:
