Hi. How did your girl get on? My boy got 113 but I don't really know how good that is. The quotient divisions seem to move every year.0

Hi Moomum
I think 113 is excellent - it is in the top
Quinile (which is 113+) and should be enough for any school. I think this would be equivalent to an 11 plus A grade. Well done to your son.

My niece got 105. That will get her into cambridge house. She was especially pleased as she beat her brother who got 103 last year!0

I haven't posted since October when I was worried my girl wasn't going to do so well!! Well after all the nerves and worry she's come out with an AQE score of 110!! Lots of smiles in our house yesterday and a very proud mummy Well done to everyone on their scores! Glad it's all over!0

Hey, I'm new to this thread. Congrats to all your little ones! Unfortunately we got a shock with my step daughters results. She got 96 after consistently getting 85-95% in practice papers for the two months before the exams. She was sure she had got around this after coming out of the exams and is generally spot on in guessing how she did. 96 won't be enough to get into any of the three schools we were looking at so we are pretty devastated as is she. Just wondering of any of you have been in this situation with other kids and if so any advice on challenging the result? My hearts breaking for her as she worked so so hard and it hasn't paid off. Poor wee things birthday today too :-(0

Having two daughters who have went through the AQE in previous years the best advice I can give is still apply for schools in strict order of your preference (don't be put off by previous years results) and just let the clearing system sort it all out.
You would be amazed at the number of kids who would have got into a school but did not apply because parents thought the score was not high enough. It happens every year...................
96 is still a very good score!0 -
Thanks for posting. Yeah it's still good but she would have needed c. 105 to get into first two choices and 100 for third. I'm more upset for her that all her friends will be going off together and she's now going to have to go to a different school, in a different town. We'll def put down the schools just in case, another long wait!0

My niece has found herself in a similar situation with a result of 98. It's still a great score, but a bit frustrating as a lot of her class mates who would be in the lower ability sets in class , have scored higher. But, the teachers advise was taken & she wasn't privately tutored, as it turned out, she was about the only child within the class who wasn't. But , it is what it is & we'll have to look at the options available.
Does anyone know if the amount of children taking the test has an impact? The 2 very local grammars took to 99 last year, we think they'll be out. There are 2 others within a bus drive away which took 94 & 96 . Would she have a decent chance to gain entrance with her score?0 -
Hi Elizabeth
I've heard it is worth phoning the school with the score and that they may have some hunch if it is likely to be enough as I think they get a copy of the results of kids who sat the test with them, although perhaps this is only true in a rural population where most kids are wanting to go to the school they sat the test in.0 -
My boy did only the GL tests because friends said it was easier. He has a cohort percentile of 76. He wants to apply to Antrim Grammar instead of going to Ballymena. Can someone explain the procedure or tell me if it is likely he will get in? If there is no point in applying to Antrim (they accept AQE) he knows that Ballymena it must be.
Any advice is welcome.0
