Golly, some of you people are absolutely hardcore. Austerity cuts mean my Local Authority 'No fixed hours' job is more vulnerable than ever. My hours have been cut by half over the last year (and earnings accordingly). Credit card debt creeping up and it has to stop. Massive overhaul of finances, first stop of which must be planned meals and a budgeted shop. Me, OH, 15 yr old and 10 yr old all week, 11 yr old step son alternate weekends and my adult son and daughter return frequently with partners so busy household but I'm sure we can spend less than the £140 a week on average that I blow now. So, aiming to get it done for £100 per week to start (including toiletries and cleaning stuff). The plan is to go with special offers and down branding? I have a full store cupboard and freezer and I aim to throw less stuff away. Wish me luck! :rotfl:0

Have done my first shop from August budget. Didn't have time to shop around today so done most of it in Mr Ts and stopped at farm shop on the way home for potatoes & some grapes (potatoes are way cheaper in the farm shop - I paid 13p a pound; Mr Ts work out around 40p a pound!)
Spent £23.16 in Mr Ts and £3.98 in farm shop so a total of £27.04/£250.
Will update signature shortly.

First time posting on this challenge! Great idea
Please put me down for £200 for August.
This is a budget of £50 a week for the 2 of us, still quite high I know but it's ridiculous the amount we normally spend each week! Just spending £50 a week would still make a big difference in the amount we are saving long term0 -
I'm gonna join back in for August please £80
I stepped out of the July GC because I needed to do the save recipets and re evaluate my budget thing. I went on Maternity leave July 18th and still waiting to hear how much and when I shall get Maternity Allowance so I needed to re shuffle bills and spending, everything is coming out of the hubby's wages.
This £80 is only for household and food. I have to wait to find out what I get before I can factor in nappy's, only another 7 weeks till I'm due, so I'm bulking buying and batch cooking.GC July: £0/£1200 -

Hi everyone,
Budgets list updated to here
Welcome to our new members:
aklmatthews, edinburghlad, frugirl, Landgirl81, Savvy cash and dropintheocean
Good luck all.
I have messaged Bluegreen as the recipe lists need to be copied over. I for one use these regularly as they are great when you're stuck for something to put on the mealplan!
Did the Hairy Dieters cod and prawn gratin for tea last night. Really tasty but hated having to skin the cod and smoked haddock fillets. Too tight to buy them ready skinned lol!
So far I have done a big shop at Tesco as I also wanted to fill the car up with my 14p off per litre. Also got a few bits at Co-op this morning. Off to update my signature.
Mealplan:
Tonight - smoked salmon taglietelle
Saturday - out at SILs
Sunday - out at friends
Monday - SW kebabs (from the index) with salad
Tuesday - jambalaya (Hairy Dieters)
Wednesday - chicken curry, rice and naan
Thursday - sweet and sour lo pork with noodles
Have a good day all

Please may I join I did it a few months ago but things came up so ended up pulling out. But I'm determined to cut back as much as possible as we are going away for New Year and need to save up as much as possible. In my household their is 6 of us Myself, OH, DS1, DS2,DS3 and a DD. We also have my OH 3 children for dinner every fortnight for 1 night.
My budget is £300. I know Its high but this is me trying prove to the OH that we can eat decently for less than he thinks.
I will be starting 1st Aug-31st Aug0
