  • Going to try this for June, I have £280 per month to spend on food for 4 adults, 2 dogs and 2 cats but always end up going over and asking DH to 'sub' me!

Pets food costs £30 a month so that will leave me with £250 for us all.

Woo, I joined in April but got a bit side tracked at the end of the month and start of May and it all fell apart. But I must get back on the way on for June, could you please put me down for £300 for everything, eating in, out, take away, cleaning products and baby products.
I'll be starting on Tuesday 27th May running until Thursday 26th June

    Thank you :)

    Hello everyone.
Can i join in. Ive been a long time lurker and have learnt a lot just from reading and seeing how you all budget.
Im feeding 4 adults. Ive never done this before so dont know how i will do. We have no debts after becoming debt free last year and I always have £600 for the month to buy food and anything else we need. What i have discovered is that i always use up that amount and seem to think in my head that ive spent the 600 on food, but ive now sat and gone through the latest statement and its more near £400 on food and the rest on sundries like garden plants, cinema trips etc.
So I will have a separate purse and draw out £400 and use that for my start up month.
I hope ill soon be able to drop it down to a smaller amount but want to see how i go.
Right im off to look for a purse and do a food inventory of my cupboards and freezer!
    Here goes!

Many thanks for a new thread and all the work that goes along with it.
Hello Horwich 7 and welcome to the thread. I started along the same lines as you - had £500 every four weeks and spent it, since joining here I now I still draw out the £500 but set my budget at £200 for a 4 week month and £250 for a 5 week month and usually (not always) come in under budget. What I don't spend out of the original £500 I save until there is something we want or need.

Can I set my June budget for £200 please
