If you look after your partner, a relative or friend who needs help because they're ill or disabled, then you are a carer. The main welfare benefit for carers is called Carer's Allowance.....
http://www.ageuk.org.uk/money-matters/claiming-benefits/carers-allowance/
Carer’s Allowance is £61.35 a week to help you look after someone with substantial caring needs.
You don’t have to be related to, or live with, the person you care for.

Now this is an official government website. AND so therefore there is nothing as i said that says only a friend or relative can claim it.0 -
This is a bit more clear but i cant find nothing in the rules that says CA can be claimed by 'friend' or 'family/relative'.
It can be claimed by anyone (friend, relative, neighbour) who cares for someone for more than 35 hours a week if the person being cared for is on certain benefits.

Yeah well that's what I said you pasted the same link again lol0 -
Therefore now that we have established CA can be claimed by 'anyone' therefore as it is 'money', it can be used to pay any odd carer. I mean the govermment has set an amount which a carer deserves and that's what CA pays really.
So my understand is if someone cares for someone 'over' 35 hours, then they get direct payments. Once those direct payments go over 400 quid a month, then their CA stops and they can claim WTC to make up the difference.
That's what i've gathered so far.0 -

Then you need to go back and read it all again.0 -

I never wrote that only a friend or relative could receive it.0
