i am also blind and without the help of my PA, i woukd be virtually housebound.
i receive the level of funding in part, because i am as active as i am.
my social worker sees no reason why i shouldnt be allowed to be as fit and active as i would be if i were sighted

Well you could have said that before instead of hiding it. Blindness is a physical disability by the way and you siad you are not physically disabled.

you obviously have no idea what youre talking about or how social service assessments or direct payments work.
we have tried to explain but you either cannot, or will not understand.

elderly people do have more care needs but proving that these are above and beyond what ALL ekderky people need is exptremely difficult.
not all people receiving direct payment funding are wheelchair bound or bedbound.
i myself receive direct payments . they are also at a high level, in fact i dont know anyone that gets as well funded as i do. ( i must point out that my county council are well known for their decent funding levels for people of working age)
i have no physical disability. i use the gym 3 times a week, swimming 30 lengths and managing 9km in 15 minutes on the exercise bike.
according to you, i shouldnt be eligable for direct payments.
proves how little you know about disability and the type of care that is needeed

nannytone see UNDERLINED above, you said you have no physical disability, then you are saying you are blind. Use proper terminology at least.

I feel I'm being singled out here. I can see that from the fact that others are getting 'likes' on their posts from 'same number of people'. Therefore this thread is dominated by a select few who know each other quite well and do not want an outsiders opinion.

However let me make it very very clear, I shall continue giving my honest advice.

That's where you're wrong. Under some circumstances, a family member can get direct payments.

You can't claim working tax credits and carers allowance. CA (as you've been told many times) is paid to someone who generally isn't in employment. Someone claiming working tax credits, as the name suggests, would be working.

CA is nowhere near the minimum wage. Even if you do the minimum of 35 hours per week.

    You are correct Indie.

There is nothing to prevent a family member from being employed on a DP. The issue is residing in the same household whether a family member or not. Exceptions can be made but they need specific approval from the Social Worker under the guidelines.

You don't need specific approval to employ a family member living at another address.

Anyone in receipt of carers allowance their income is restricted to the benefit + £102 PER WEEK - expenses. Plus it can impact on the disabled persons other benefits.

DP has nothing to do with 24/7 care any need being met by Social Services they should by law offer DP as an option. In reality they still don't but that has been in place since 2003.

So in this case the 4 times a day could be paid in DP which the service could then be purchased either direct from the agency or by employing direct.

Excuse me, I never asked about your situation, nor am I concerned about it. In fact I even said when you mentioned it that ' i dont care '. You dont have to tell me anything about yourself and I'm sorry if I did know about you as your other 'friends' do who seem to be constantly going on at me for no reason even though I'm right all along!

    1)
Give it up now...you weren't right.

Please respect my opinion and if you disagree with me then let it be, don't keep trying to impose your views on me and then getting others to call me an 'idiot' and make other remarks on my person.

    2)
No one called you an idiot.

Clearly, nanny does. As do the majority of other posters to this thread.

So please stop trying to tell me to be 'humble' and 'accept' when I know for a fact that I've been right all along and will most probably would be in future as well.

    Thank you.

    See 1) above.

    look at it another way....
the posts that are receiving 'likes' are all saying the same thing, and that is the polar opposite of what you are saying.
the main difference being, that the posters with the 'likes' actually know the topic being discussed and you are merely giving an opinion which is invariably wrong

Caring is a part time job. There is no obligation to meet national minimum wage.

Advice in this instance from "us" is factual and accurate advice.

An opinion on who might be the best person to employ is an "opinion"

Sorry but I dont believe in majority is the authority. It's a democracy not a dictatorship. I have my opinion, and I am right, I have proven by fact, end of story. You on the other hand have been DIRECTLY abusive to me, and you have DIRECTLY targetted me, and you have been reported.
