seller saying postage wrong

What has probably happened is they put the golf set on ebay and didn't set a reserve as it costs more and the golf set didn't sell for anything near they were expecting.
Using the 12 year old setting the postage so low as an excuse not to sell the item to you. I don't know if there is anything you can do tbh. I think ebay will give them a strike for not selling the item and you can neg them and they will likely neg you back.
This is under the help section on ebay:
If your seller changed the terms of the sale after the end of the listing, for example, they've asked for a different payment method or increased the delivery charge, please report the seller. You should send us any emails the seller sent you regarding the change, along with the email headers

look carolwat you even said yourself in the OP that you thought the postage was a little low for the item.
you could have emailed them asking as you obviously know that its not going to cost 4.95 to post a set of golf clubs
hell i had to pay 5.00 to post a suit off and im sure a set of golf clubs weight a bit more than a jacket and skirt.
Even a courrier would do it for that price.
you also dont know what the repercussions will be for the kiddie if you do go ahead. So the mother hasnt told the father perhaps just perhaps she might have been a little scared to do this.
i dont know what the final price is but im sure by the way you are reacting they were like a real bargin and you wanna grab them now.
i hope you really look at the situtaion carefully
yes i guess they were in the wrong but at the same time you knew postage was a little low.
if you do get the item then i just hope you dont have a iggly tinky feeling that some poor kiddie has gone through hell over the last few days and i hope you enjoy using them knowing this.
sometimes in life we have to step back and look at situations in a different light rather than slapping our hands together digging our heals in and thinking oh suckers i just got the bargin of the century or one up on someone else.
If you read my posts you will see that I have offered to pay more postage and I have never even questioned the seller on their postage. I havnt tried to get out of paying extra, like I said I have offered extra as my husband needs these clubs quickly. I suggest you read things thoroughly before accusing me of trying to grab a bargain. This is nothing to do with getting a bargain its to do with buying something and trying to get it delivered quickly even though the seller made a mistake and after trying to sort it all out and offering more I have wasted my time and still have no golf clubs for my husband to play tonight as arranged. I could have taken the advice of other immediately and complained to ebay but I was sympathetic and understood their mistake and offered to pay more even though I had every right not to. Dont come on here and tell me im just out to cause trouble for some kid and get myself a bargain when you clearly have no idea. Now please leave this thread for people who have genuine advice.0 -

dont you dare tell me to leave a thread
I didnt actually TELL you to leave the thread, I asked you to leave it for other people to post who had genuine advice instead of taking up space with your pointless comments but if it bothers you that much then stay but dont make judgements on me when you havnt read my posts properly. The number of people on here who just seem to thrive on causing trouble and being horrible to people astounds me. Personally I think theres more to life but hey its your choice.0 -
carol, i say take them on!
i do not believe all this talk of 12 year olds etcetera, it does not fit. in my eyes what has happened is that they have put the clubs on with no reserve as this is cheaper. they have also put them on with a purposeful low postage cost, as this is also cheaper the list! when they havent had the interest and the clubs have sold for too low a value, they have concocted the 12 year old and incorrect postage story to get you to back out. when you havent backed out of it, they have come up with the father story, it just doesnt add up!
i say report the buyer, but do not send your money. they are already very unwilling to send you the clubs, and i do not think they will be sent and you have to go through the rigmarole of claiming your money back. i think its safe to say you will not receive the clubs?
however, you should press on with reporting them to ebay and filing a dispute, because people like this should not be allowed to get away with messing around on ebay and causing inconvenience to other people. the story is full of holes and is just down right stupid of them, even if they story is true!
let me know how you get on

Badmumof1, please dont take this thread off on a tangent. I doubt there will be any "repercussions for the kiddie" as to be honest I very much doubt the "kiddie" even exists.
Carolwat, as annoying as it is you simply cant force a seller to sell. The best you can hope for is to file a Non Performing Seller report and refuse to comply with a mutual note when it arrives, at least that way your seller gets hit with the fees from the auction.
