Well the 48 hours are up and no email received to indicate any decision whatsoever!

Well I may not have received an email (and no its not in my spam either) but I received the paperwork (with envelope) just now.

Good so far with snail mail beating email!!

Thanks all for your responses. Like somebody else has said I don't need another current account so would be looking to close it as soon as I received the vouchers.

Quick question, if you use the switch service, this closes down the previous current account, doesn't it?

I wanted to switch half my dds into a new account but this will not get me the voucher? I really don't want to close the whole account.

All the direct debits and standing orders will be switched across and the old account closed automatically. You must use the switching service to get the voucher and it's not possible to cherry pick which direct debits/standing orders you want to move, or to keep the account open at the end of the process.

I've studied the T & C and as far as I can see there is no requirement that the account you are transferring has to have any DD's or SO's. Based on that information there is no reason why an empty dormant current account cannot be switched.

True, the T&Cs are straight forward. Remember thought you have to call (phone or in person in Branch) to initiate the switch. The conversation will probably be a great deal easier if you can truthfully tell them that you are switching an account which has all sorts of activity and DDs
