Good point. What if they are a full-time student?
Maybe a student would be the best idea?

Students are exempt, but you must get written evidence from them that they are exempt and keep this in case of any query from the council

I may have accommodation when I'm away, but I'll still have my own home. So I'd like someone there to keep an eye on it for me.

This is what good neighbours are for.

I too have spent time at sea, I too have been used to having a steward, having meals cooked for me, not having to do any cleaning. I was called 'Memsahib' for 3 years.

But I still manage to fend for myself now.

I'd suggest he'd be better off in Thailand

We'd all be better off in Thailand, wouldn't we!?

Not to mention that the OP's also asking about whether his mother should get a lodger.

There's an obvious solution there. But I suspect he's already asked, and she's already told him to grow up and stand on his own two feet...

No, it's not a good option, because my mother is on benefits, so that would cause many complications with LHA and pension credit, council tax exemption etc. Like I said, I don't know much abut benefits, but I've seen enough online to see that it is complicated.

I am standing on my own feet, but looking to improve my QoL

I can manage, but looking to improve things if possible.

And why would you assume that men are inherently more capable of gardening or clearing gutters?

How many women gardeners / labourers do you know?
All the ones in that line of work I've met seem to be men.

So, let me get this straight, you'd rather your mother received benefits than shared your house, whilst you then employ a stranger to "be your mum" for you. At 35.

Better you hire a cleaner & buy ready prepared meals. Or spend the £70 quid a week on a match.com membership & find a wife

    Don't forget the cashback.

Get a slow cooker. Or a wifey.
