She logged off when you were in the middle of a conversation on FB chat? How sure can you be that it really was your friend you were in contact with? To be honest, I'd still carry on with trying to find family members or other friends. Or even him through his employer, if possible. This doesn't sound right at all.

glad to hear you have heard from her via e-mail, hope that you get a letter soon. My only concern would be that it wasn't her responding ... did it seem like her writing style?

That crossed my mind, but it definitely reads like her texting style.

Do you think it was her husband pretending to be her? I doubt it because it really did read like my friend's usual texting style. I've looked over old messages from her compared them and I'm sure it was her.

My friend logged off after one message early on a Sunday morning - that's what makes me think he's watching what she does. And she saw me on FB and thought she'd have time to talk before he got up/got out of the bath/whatever. :( But if it were actually him writing, do you think he'd have told me she would write? That seems odd. I'd have thought if it were him he'd have kept talking a bit longer telling me everything was wonderful over there.

It slipped my mind that I had posted this. There's an update. My friend sent me a letter at the start of last week. I'm so happy to hear from her.

It sounds like things are a bit better - she says there was one stress after the next on the relationship from the minute they got together, but the last months or so things have settled down a lot and they are both feeling happier.

Her surgery was a bit more complicated than we first thought as well and while the op went ok, she's needed a lot of recovery time and rehab to get mobile again. She's also training for a new job, found some close friends among the other army wives and started a couple of hobbies so hasn't had much free time.

I'm so glad to hear from her again and happy that all the chaos seems to be settling down. I do hope that her relationship was one that got off to a rough start and now their lives are more settled, they can head in the right direction.
