Ignore tali, he/she's having a bad day. You won't lose any files with the Live CD.Live CD is a generic term for an operating system distribution that is executed upon boot, without installation on a hard drive.
Some reading for you, tali; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LiveDistro0 -
ok? WHAT THE FU*K i looked into this post and people are being girls.
ok the guy who first post about the pc. have u actually done anything to your pc yet....
becuase from what i've read if u have done nothing ur files will be fine!. u need to get some1 with some IT background. because if u cant boot up u need to put that hard drive in another pc and drag the files off it. its simple enough...but only if ukno what ur doing.0 -
Another numbskull joins the fray.....
Isn't is possible for you children to post without using swear words?
Can you explain to me, in your own words, why a Live CD wouldn't work?0 -

yeah whatever mate...i swear so thats my business.
and also didnt work because u didnt burn it rite. or the iso is bust. what are u trying to do and why?0 -
Yes it is YOUR business if you want to swear, so keep it to YOURself.
My question was in reference to your post;
"have u actually done anything to your pc yet....

Why would you suggest that as solution, when you can access the files with a Live CD?
If they had someone around with an IT background, do you think they would be posting here?
Sometimes I really wonder about the school system in the UK. Is it hitting an all time low?0 -

well lets pick holes in this....accessing files from a live D isnt the best option. just can come across so many problems....i.e. now.... just put it straight into another pc, and take all users rights off the files and take it all off. well documents and settings and files etc....
also u might know some1 who knows more than u...which anit hard, but also useful just so u got a 2nd head.....
and just !!!!!! trying to imply things about me, and the school system. ur just some goon0 -
How do you know that there are problems? The post hasn't reported back with a problem with the Live CD.
So, it seems the problem is in your head.
If she had that possibility she wouldn't be posting here. Did you think of that?Just put it straight into another PC
Together with your lack of aforethought, your atrocious omissions in punctuation and your woeful spelling, the term goon is probably better used to describe a certain richyrichuk.
Here are some definitions for your perusal:
lout: an awkward stupid person
hood: an aggressive and violent young criminal
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
A goon is a henchman of some description, usually a muscular thug with very little intelligence. The term rose to prominence thanks to frequent usage in Popeye.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goon
2. clumsy person: somebody regarded as clumsy or uncouth ( informal insult )
http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary
You may prefer the definitions from the Urban Dictionary: goon tool idiot fool moron loser retard geek thug
Now look back at your lack of reasoning and your very poor writing and comprehension skills. Whom does the word goon describe more accurately?
Anyway, back to the original topic....unless the OP informs us otherwise, we have to assume that there is no IT specialist waiting in the wings.
So we have to look at a structured solution. We look at the obvious solutions and if they fail, we move on to the next one.
Others have successfully retrieved their files using a Live CD, with no loss of files and no necessity to fiddle around inside the machine.
So there is no need to knock a solution about which you obviously know so little.
Happy to move on?0 -
as Tali says try starting in safe mode and if you get into safe mode goto last known working mode0

Apparently already attempted in post #23.
Also, you might think of asking if the problem has already been resolved, rather than just repeating something that has already been suggested.0 -

yeah.....funny story...i dont care.
and if ur that sad to spend ur time doing all that crap feel free. but 1ce in a while i actually go outside...should try it
and also u dont know could be a hardware problem with the pc, or something so the safest thing to do is rip out ur HD and back it up before u start messing with software. and trust me pal, i kno more on pc's than u man.
ps. also if i wanted me english to be rite, i'd go do a english degree.0
