have you tried starting in safe mode (tapping f8 when booting up)? , but i had similar problem and i searched far , high and wide wasting my time and unfortunately really you are going to have to do a fresh reinstall of your OS - and lose all your stuff - if that doesn't work then it probably requires a new hard drive

You probably won't lose anything if you can perform the Repair install.

have you changed the boot order in the bios

Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.

I'm not in the UK, so I can't send you a full XP disc. Hopefully someone else will come up with a suggestion.

If none of the suggestions in the link work for you, you should consider using a 'live CD' in order to save any important files on your computer before performing a clean install.

Hopefully someone can talk you through this. I need to eat.

I think the suggestion of accessing windows via safe mode is the best way foward. As you start up the computer, keep tapping F8,should bring up a menu, choose start computer in safe mode.tell us how you get on.
