Gave wrong account number!

Contact the company who sent the money, tell them you gave them the wrong details & ask them to keep in contact with you in regards to getting the money returned to them & paid to you. It might take a while though. A similar thing happened where I work (we paid money in to an account we had on our records but it was the wrong one). The bank were helpful in chasing this up for us & the money eventually got returned back to our bank account so we could then pay it correctly.0

If its a BACS payment rather than Faster Payment, it can be actually be recalled. It's only Faster Payments that can't.
Either way if the account isn't valid - it should either fail when sending or bounce back after about a 5 working days if its a BACS payment. They won't be able to recall a payment once it has been made. However, there is a good chance the bank will return the money since the account number probably doesn't exist if it's just the last 2 numbers you mixed up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have tried it with Santander and Lloyds, and could not send anything to a non-existent account number (sort code was valid in both cases).
Santander. I sent £2000 to an invalid lloyds account after getting one digit of the sort code wrong. It happened to be a valid sort code unfortunatly but thankfully was not a valid account number. The money was returned after about 48 hours.0 -
weird. I cannot even set up a payee for an invalid account at Santander, not to talk about sending any money to a non-existent account number. I get an error window that says "Account does not exist", error number CLOCAL_00001.
Try it. 09-01-27 9851 3582
The sort code exists, the acct number doesn't.
