I can't believe I've been so stupid. I've been fighting a car dealer through the courts for 9 months for this money and now I might have lost it all

When they e-mailed me they included an attachment which says they sent the money electronically today (they have previously told me it would be sent via BACS) so I'm hoping they will be able to re-call it.0 -
I've followed the link you have sent me SG27 (thanks!) and it is coming up with x in the status box, does this mean it is not valid?0

Faster payments are pretty much instant, so they won't be able to recall it.What will your verse be?

Have you checked the account number and sort code on the link I provided? If you don't want to do that then call tsb again and ask them if the account number is valid. You might have to insist they tell you but there is no reason why they can't.0 -
They won't be able to recall a payment once it has been made. However, there is a good chance the bank will return the money since the account number probably doesn't exist if it's just the last 2 numbers you mixed up.
You can validate the sort code and account number you gave them on http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/bank-account-validation/try-it-now/
Good luck
EDIT: I see you have already checked, and it's not a valid account. So you / the sender just have to figure out with TSB where the money went - it is probably in a holding account and should be returned to the sender. Could take some time to have it sorted but you should get it sorted alright.0 -

Looks like you have been lucky! There will also be an x after faster payments, BACS etc.
The money will be sent back to the sender at some point. Could take a couple of days. You could try calling and ask when it will be returned.0 -
Yes there is a little x after faster payments, BACS etc so it looks like I've been lucky. Thank you for showing me that website, I might sleep tonight now!0

It depends what they mean when they say they sent it electronically, but if it's anything that involves Faster Payments then the software should not accept an invalid sortcode/account combination and the money would never leave the sender's account. In which case there would be no need to wait for the payment to be retried once the correct account number has been supplied.0

May be this is what happened. The HCEO tried to send the money by FP but couldn't because the account number was invalid. They then emailed the OP to ask them to check their account number....following which the OP went into a flat spin panic.
All will be revealed eventually and probably end well.0 -

they didn't.
'they have e-mailed me to check my bank account as they have sent the money'The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
