    Love these!

I'd also like wooden toys for when they are a little older. I also like the Lamaze things.
I'd be thrilled with most of the suggestions posted!

Could you make a nappy cake. I have seen some fabulous ones on there and you can make them as expensive or as cheaply as you like.
I made a one a couple of years ago, and whilst it was not as good as some of the ones on here it was not bad, and quite easy.
I put small gifts etc in which I got from charity shops. They did look new though.

Most of my friends and family with babies live in Australia and for some reason they seem to mainly be born in Summer so I've found the shops here generally filled with winter gear when I'm shopping for them. What I've done is buy clothes for them for the winter in a larger size so they will grow into them.

Quite a few of them have commented it was really nice getting clothes for when they were 6 months old or older as they were mainly given clothes for a newborn only which in some cases the baby was born bigger than what the clothes they were given!

A sleeping bag was one of my best gifts. I was bought one of these http://www.thedreambag.co.uk and it was lovely. I had gro bags and other ones too but these were by far the nicest and best quality.

Please don't buy Johnsons skincare for babies. It's like paint stripper on their delicate skin. :(

Hard to know what sort of nappies to use though. Plus they may not use disposables.

DD was long and thin (still is) but always a size down in clothes. As a result lots if things bought for her to wear in summer didn't fit until winter and didn't get worn.

I saw silk baby sleeping bags somewhere for under twenty on sale when I was looking for a duvet a fortnight ago and thought they'd be a great gift. Very plain looking, but would be comfortable. I can try and locate the link if it helps?

    That sounds GORGEOUS!!!

Don't think you can go far wrong with a good blanket...wrap it round the baby, stick it on the sofa, have it in their bed...As with everything else, babies will churn through them rapidly, so doesn't matter if they already have some...and it will be useful for a couple of years at least...
