Comments on Inventory
Nil entries can be omitted (other than in the summary)
‘Movable’ should read ‘moveable’
Item 1 add ‘motor car’
Change ‘time of death’ to read ’date of death’
The RBS entries should be able to be combined to an extent. And then the inventory is likely to be able to be put on two pages
In the inventory entry for the RBS which includes a post code, the post code is incomplete
I cannot imagine that there is a need to list an account with a balance of 21p.
Remove the heading ‘REFUNDS OWED TO DECEASED AT TIME OF DEATH’
Perhaps use - Scottish gas account refund due to overpayment. Include an item number
Perhaps use - Council tax refund due by [Renfrew?] District Council due to overpayment of account. Include an item number
Under Estate in England and Wales, change ‘Movable’ to read ‘Personal’
Against life insurance policy give the name and brief address of the company. Include an item number.
Against car insurance refund, give the name and a brief address. Include an item number
Refund goods purchased. Might not be needed?
The Summary for Confirmation, including values, needs to be contained totally in the 2nd column and laid out as below
SUMMARY FOR CONFIRMATION
ESTATE IN SCOTLAND £xxxxx
ESTATE IN ENGLAND AND WALES £xxx
ESTATE IN NORTHERN IRELAND nil
TOTAL FOR CONFIRMATION £xxxx
ESTATE ELSEWHERE nilYou have used executrix but in para 2 used executor. Suggest use executor throughout.
Feel free to post an amended C1 version or send to me by PM.

UPDATE: With the expert guidance provided by buddy9, I completed the C1 form and the C2 inventory continuation and lodged at Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday 12 May 2026. The application was granted on Tuesday 19 May 2026 with no amendments required. Thanks again buddy9! I am very grateful for you kind assistance.

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted before, but with the support of this group i'm pleased to say I submitted my C1 this week - though I'd been concentrating so much on the form I forgot to enclose the death certificate 😫 and returned the following day.
I submitted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court. No appointment req'd, the office is upstairs in the Civil & Commissary office. It's only open 9-10 and 2-4. The clerk was really nice and looked over the form layout, though not the info. She helpfully told me exactly where to docquet the will, then I signed everything with the same date and passed it across. She advised current turnaround is 8-9 weeks before it will be looked at.
She said the most important things for them are the Declaration, and the page numbering for the Inventory. I used the extra pages C2 document, so my page nos ran 1, 2, 3, C2/1, C2/2, 4, 5. This was correct.
Something that almost tripped me up I realised just in time, is to refer to Scottish estate as Heritable and Moveable, but England, Wales & Ireland estate headings become Real and Personal.
Thanks very much to everyone here for their kind help.3 -
