Oh LW hopefully it won't cause him too many problems :A

What the eff is going on with this Fred? They seem to be merging all kinds of stuff! Do we need to start a new one? Happy to copy Natty's list if you think it would help? The name of Fred keeps changing as more merge in front :(

ETA: *groan* planning permission been put in for the land down the embankment at the back of my house to be converted to a tr@veller site with over 50 pitches *groan* permission not yet granted but the d00zer appears to be digging up the embankment. Which is within my boundaries. Gah. Really don't need this! Neighbour has alerted me and got onto council. Planning officer has been round to tell him to stop, but my guess is he will be back tomorrow, given he will have 3 days with no-one to tell him off... I'm going to object (clearly!) - hopefully we will have a case, clearly he is showing no regard for existing residents before it's allowed, so will show even less if permission is granted :(

LW, I am very relieved to hear that Mr LW is OK, even if there is the prospect of him having to have a repair op. Surgery of that type has certainly moved on apace in the last decade! Please don't worry too much about it for now, just concentrate on calming your mind after a week of upsets. And tell the dragons that if they want dusting underneath, they've got to get their wings moving and shift themselves!

I still haven't been shopping or to the tip, but I have sorted some more filing and cleared up as much as I can in the utility. The new stainless steel sink was gross :( DH has finished his areas of painting now - if there are any bits to touch up around the house, I will do them one day when he is out ;)

Hi all; I am here, just I don't log onto the internet early on, or I lose too much of the morning puttering about online instead of doing tasks.;)

Mr LW saw the GP yesterday, and my amateur "diagnosis" was correct; he has an inguinal hernia.:( However, they are not proposing to do anything at this time; he is just to go back to the GP if it gets worse or starts hurting him a lot. I've nursed a convalescent inguinal hernia patient before, many years ago, following a repair operation, and it was 3 months of hell; however, from what I can gather online, surgical techniques are more refined now, and if he does end up needing an operation, the recovery time should be shorter. I am already working out strategies for coping "just in case" iyswim. At this point the main thing is to stop a very large BD from taking up residence.

    :o

    I hope this help...

6 or 7 years ago my stepdad (almost 70) had a repair on a severe hernia on his right side and a moderate one on the left of the same nature (he also had an umbilical hernia repaired at the same time) He was in and out as a day patient.. he was off work for a week and after 3 or 4 days was going crazy to go back.. as a window cleaner up and down ladders that was not sensible! But he was absolutely fine.. in very little pain and it healed very quickly.. his biggest complaint was the young age of the female doctor. It was done using keyhole surgery so small incisions.. just lots of peppermint tea for the excess air due to them inflating the abdomen to deal with the offending bits.

Do you mean that they're digging up your property? Or am I misunderstanding you? If so, and your spidey senses are right about them returning over the weekend, would the police assist if you called? Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick, it's been a long week :p

LW, from the little I know of this condition, they'll only intervene if it gets v. painful, keeping everything crossed that doesn't happen. DH has had a fair few surgeons poking about "down there, like" over the years and his recovery time has been short. Sending you calming vibes xx

All ironing done, the damp stuff is hanging on the curtain rail with all the windows open. Two more loads put through the WM, they're now on the airer. Kitchen completely cleaned, when the skids get home I will be showing them all that *this* is how it's supposed to look and *this* is how I expect them to leave it when they're asked to WU after dinner. I can feel DSD's daggers already :D

I've mopped the bathroom floor and will give it a good S&S in a min. My parcel hasn't arrived yet; don't want to stray too far from the front door lest I miss them again.

Piggers thank you for posting that; it's very reassuring to get a trustworthy account (there's such a lot of carp on t'internet generally). We'd push for keyhole surgery (I had that when I was sterilised); and of course Mr LW is in IT so is basically a desk jockey. He's 64, so just a bit younger than your stepdad was at the time. And I always have peppermint tea in the house.:o

Ionafan I told the dragons to get flapping and move themselves, but they just poked their tongues out at me.:rotfl:

    Not quite.

I live in the middle one of 5 houses and there is a steep embankment behind. The land that runs along all 5 is part of my "plot" and I have a covenant stating it is to be kept green, shrubby, trees etc lest all out gardens end up sliding down the hill (think deforestation :D).

The site owner presumably owns the bottom part of the embankment beyond my external boundary fence (it's outside of our gardens) and my neighbour says her OH went to check it out and he's gouged out the bottom of the embankment  the planning application says it will be kept green but I'm not convinced he won't be extending his Tarmac along to squeeze a bit more pitchable space in.

Also the plans show the site outline, which shouldn't stretch down as far as our houses - he should be further up the valley. But I haven't seen it myself...

even more confused as the name of the thread has now changed. hopefully when qwe start a new one next week it will not be merged or have another stitched on the front.

LW, glad what pigpen posted has helped and reassured you somewhat. I hope that MrLW continues to be ok and is not in any pain.

Bossy hugs sounds dodgy, i would certainly do as fizzwhizz suggested and ring the police if your land is being compromised. your tree and lilies sound a lovely idea.
(ive got lilies and a lovely statue of a fariy on my front, in memory of my little niece Lily)

Bossy just seen your above post, if i were you along with the neighbours affected id be rining the council again asking them to come and look and make it clear what is NOT to be done, do you have a copy of the document you just mentioned stating that the embankment MUST remain shrubby for the protection of your properties?

been to have my grey roots decluttered, nipped round mils to help sort some money stuff out for her. (id been round wednesday afternoon to clean through for her i think this will need adding to my weekly list as shes just not cleaning any more) anyway she has a rash so shed rung the Dr and was waiting for a visit. im on standby to go and collect a prescription if one is called for.
Glad id been to clean now as that was mine and DH main worry, if she had a doctor or health person call on her, the way she was living would look like she wasnt coping. thing is shes adamant she wants to stay at her house and is still mobile enough to go cinema bowling and little shopping trips but doesnt like the idea of spending any time cleaning.

Thanks Mrs MP. The planning app is in the city council, however we have a local town council who are holding an emergency meeting. I'm sure I do have copies so I will dig them out and take them along.

Does MIL get attendance allowance? Could she be eligible for it? My late gran had it and we used part of it to pay for a cleaner. She hated it at first but soon considered herself "an employer" lol. I think she'd rather one of us did it for free but tbh its hard when you have your own jobs / kids / homes to attend to as well. I used to do her money, my aunt would do her washing and my stepdad kept on top of the garden and we roped uncles in for DIY etc.

DD is asleep on the floor

no at the moment she doesnt get anything other than her pension, not sure if shes eligible i got her some forms last year and said id help her fill them in for carers allowance, but without telling me she filled them in herself and sent them off and got a reply saying based on what she had said she has no need for help. thing is shed already forgotten that i spent wednesday cleaning for her. when she said the doc was coming i siad its lucky you are pretty clean all through, she replied yes that little brush and pan you got me is a god send i can easily keep everything tidy just brushing round my chair with it. (i dysoned the whole bungalow and had to empty the dyson twice) id spent 2 days deep cleaning when she was away in april.
i think ill just have to pencil in a morning a week to keep on top of it and let her carry on thinking shes doing it all herself.

  • Just lost a long post - sorry about the works Bossy - what about checking planning applications on council website?

If he is digging out his bit of the lower bank he should surely need footings and big strong retaining wall to prevent your property and others' gardens going his way. Should also have been given planning permission and planning do have to approach neighbours by letter and also put signs on lamposts/ telegraph posts and have a consultation period before approving works.

Got a real prob with vol book job as too much for me physically - not sure what to do for best - help!!! No flying done today since got back as too shattered!!!!!
