Slum LLs is not a true reflexion of most though.

It's the slum landlords who matter, since they rely on housing benefit for their income. Those who rent out trendy appartments to rich people are irrelevant.

Like them or not they provide a valuable service with over 20% of the NI population living in rented accomodation.

    32.75% of households are rented.

The houses wouldn't evaporate if landlord benefit was cut you know.

I don't think it's the best option though, what sort of cuts were you thinking of making?

Is the average salary within the public sector for a FT employee really as high as £30k?

Probably ... though this possibly includes teachers (£nk), doctors (£100k?), judges (£nk) etc.

Most of the 'public sector' I know would love to be 'average' (£22k)!

It seems an ideal cut. I can't think of any other more obvious ones. Can you? What are they?

Yep. It's £700 million a year and the only ones to suffer is a small selection of the electorate.

70% of the rental market here claims landlord benefit. It's not like the landlords will be able to find someone else.

I expect well here about the cuts in a few months. Have they already moved to the 30th percentile?

It really depends on what you mean by average.

Full-time or part-time? Combined? Public or private.

The average public sector salary is £30,000

The average private sector salary is £22,000

    Full-time average = £23,500
    Part-time = £8,000
    Combined = £19,000

The average wage I am just higher than is NI one of 22,000. I don't really know if the public sector average is really that high  if it is then I totally agree that is shocking.
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Too many chiefs. I'm sure you see it in your trust. Managers who effectively manage nothing.

As I say, depends on the sector, I'm in manufacturing and we're flat out !! I had a small pay rise 2 years ago and one just shy of double figures last year....(Don't expect too much this year though !!) .. All on the back of sector growth. If there is demand for your job.... companies have to pay the salaries......
