Housing benefit may not be touch due to the fact that it could have a domino effect - I suspect that they may attempt to level things out by failing to give annual increments which has happened in the past.

    Domino effect?

Well I assume they're paying a certain agreed rent per month, to reduce their housing benefit could mean they have to move to alternative housing or get LL to reduce rent etc and this may impact LL mortgages if shortfalls have to be made up.

    Drop the rent.

Are loads of "young professionals" going to be queued up willing to pay more than today's rent? No. Therefore the landlords will take the hit.

Reduces buying power in the community and property prices.

I personally don't think housing benefits will be touched. Did we not also ascertain that Jok seeker's allowance is rather low as it is?

Huh. You've lost me on the buying power... Without a doubt it will drop property prices.

Without a doubt it will be cut. It's an easy one that only really affects a few people. It's really a landlord benefit and not a tenant one.

Correct. Let's face it - slum landlord is down there with dope dealer and arms smuggler in the eyes of the public. There won't be any votes lost there.

You are probably right, but the fact remains, no one will really care if landlord benefit is cut. Apart from the landlords that is.
