You might find some more info here: http://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=717&p_created=1070554436&p_sid=wUnRJ-Fi&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=82&p_li=&p_topview=1 (if you can make sense of what they're saying!
That page simplifies things to the point of making it incorrect. It states, “Foods sent from an individual to an individual for personal use or as a bona fide gift are not subject to the Prior Notice requirement.” The law never changed, and personal gifts are still subject to the Prior Notice requirement. The section Non-commercial shipments arriving by International Mail of Sending Food through International Mail says just that, since June 2004, Prior Notice is “not generally enforced”.
Amazingly, it look from December 2003 to June 2004 to realise that having private individuals declare every packet of biscuits, every pot of Marmite and every single Galaxy Minstrel in minute detail wasn’t terribly helpful. Their big-brother database would have been getting full of irrelevant crud, and they’d have had a mountain of packages to either destroy or send back.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -
Theres a huge industry in exporting AMerican chocolates into the UK.
Plenty of websites cater for US confecyionary/soft drinks.
They cant taste that bad if people are willing to pay big prices for them0 -
Just shows that even the government departments responsible for enforcing the laws don't always know what they're doing - so its no surprise that us ordinary people get confused....we don't stand a chance! :rotfl:That page simplifies things to the point of making it incorrect. They do Cadburys in most supermarkets now in America. I did camp for a few summers...you might want to check if they have fridges and stuff to keep things in.0
