Oh difficult one. DS2 and I are political animals and love a good debate, the EU is a hot topic in our house, DS2 studies A2 economics and will be studying it at uni.
GS is our MP, he is a charlatan. I cannot stand him, or Michael Green or Seb Fox
Farage drives DS2 senseless.
It was a shambolic episode. I met Dame Shirley Williams as a young teenager and admire how somebody can be so current and lucid at her age. Chuka has a very nice manner, Caroline Lucus did not get enough 'air time'.
Favourite moment was Chuka muttering 'for god's sake' as Bingo Shapps started spouting off.
Can you tell I enjoyed it :rotfl:
Right back to the flying, the WM has just finished and DH has washed up and is doing DS2&3's lunch.
DS1 away to cricket and we are heading into town as the Women's Cylcing Tour finishes in our town in a couple of hours time. Fortunately we can walk as DS1 says the roads are full of cars as several roads are closed and many have parking restrictions.
Flying will resume when I get home. DS1 is begging me to do the cricket teas tomorrow when he is captain, I've still got my own food shop to do at Mr L later today. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Thanks for those thoughts Dusty. It's a relief to find we weren't the only ones! This, too, is a political household and we were both impressed with Shirley Williams taking the time to think through what had been said and come up with a well thought out response, as opposed to parrotting a predictable party line. It also seemed to us that all of the male panellists spoke over Caroline Lucas which was frustrating. Thanks for the heads up about one of the other panellists. I had no idea ....
What really annoyed us was that the first question's responses took 40 solid minutes to kick into touch and unforgiveably - they were so dull!
Kitchen sink plug hole, after 22 months of scrubbing it every time I cleaned the sink to get rid of 12 years of tea stains finally came up sparkley last night. Am I a sad person if I say that my kitchen sink now looks pretty?

Have just found this quote in Snoop by Sam Gosling (an academic psychologist interested in what our stuff tells other people about us):
'Whereas many orderly people are driven by a compulsion to make things neat, order prigs use their spaces as weapons; their behaviour is rather like trying to show up your daughter-in-law by wiping down her sink.'
Seriously considering making this my MSE signature.Better is good enough.0 -
Hi all
Day at home today. Friends we went on hol with have been for brekki, had a nice catch up and arranged picnic for next weekend.
DW loaded and set going, WM the same, and we've got weetabix and banana loaf in the oven. First time we've tried a cereal cake so hope it turns out well. We have no treats in the house so fingers crossed!
DS is tidying away his roads as he now wants a railway... DD is interfering with her mini princess dollies. They keep crossing the road :rotfl:
Right, need to hang washing up, off I go...Bossymoo

From my earlier post:
I need to:
wash up - done twice....mmm...
make soup - done, one portion eaten, the rest cooling to go in fridge/freezer
make fruit salad - done, looks delicious and may stop me attacking the chocolate bunny
make prawn mayo - done, looks boring but will do for a sandwich tomorrow
walk dogs (weather permitting) - one short walk done, will attempt another later
hoover and mop through house - hoovered but won't mop due to weather and my lack of patience and enthusiasm today.
It is now time to read the paper.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I have played the washing hokey cokey; fortunately almost all todays is dry enough to iron, with the exception of the stuff I rewashed because the cut on my finger opened up as I was pegging out.
Dinner made and munched (lunch for you southerners;)) and Benny Bunny has had a leap around the garden while I cleaned out his hutch. It has now been elevated slightly so I don't have to been *quite so low*
frog dealt with, student finance applied for x 2; partial delay while DD got herself onto the system, was waiting for them to receive her letter and input her. I have to sent proof of marital status - I'm less than impressed as I sent it last year and it's unchanged.
At the same time 3 years worth of payslips have been shredded as I have the P60s I don't need them.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Been to the Women's Tour bike race in town, good turn out, fun but got soaked at the end so just drying out and having a cuppa then I need to go and do a food shop, after the next shower - pouring again.
DS2 had got my washing in but he said the lines had collapsed so it was in the flower beds. It's now on the maidens. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
afternoon all:wave::wave::wave:
today I have
walked into town to do a few chores, got the bus back as my heel was painful then realised I still had not paid in the cheque in my purse d'oh
hoovered bedroom, vaxed said carpet (cat had upchucked)
I also cleaned the bathroom and de-mildewed the window frames in there
OH has made coffee and I've stopped for a sit down, soooo sleepy may have a nap next!Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0 -
DD has been nattering me for a few weeks that her apron doesn't have a pocket where mine and DS's does. So I've used a scrap of broderie fabric to make her a little patch pocket and sat stitching that on. We've been out in conservatory today as its sunshine but showers all day, some pretty torrential!
Banana weetabix cake is rather nice! Not too bad on the health, either. I used Splenda instead of sugar, although I did slice it while warm and put butter on itmmm
Kids are eating (again). I can't think what to do with myself. I want to fling but the bin is full.
Might do an online shop...Bossymoo

Hmm. Decided to pop to mr m tomorrow instead. Not enough needed for online shop, and want to get a paper.
Question: ideas for fruit / veg type snack that will survive in a lunchbox? DD usually has carrot and cucumber sticks with her lunch but hasn't been eating them. Sometimes she has baby corn. Is there anything similar you can think of? She doesn't do tomatoes and peppers. I thought of trying her with mange-tout. Can't think of anything else that won't go grotty if its pre-cut (usually make pack-up the night before).Bossymoo
