Sorry where do I find the point at where I can change the format?:o
Currently I'm in the 'Install' window now with 931.5Gb Unallocated space having deleted the various partitions.
If you mean from GPT to MBR, that will be in the BIOS setup.
I don't have any details of your machine, so here is some general info
From whence did you obtain your install media?0 -
Thanks NiftyD, I did scour the Bios last night but couldn't find anything relating to those formats. Briefly looking at the info you have given me it seems to point to the UEFI mode so the only thing I can think of is the fact that I had two choices for booting from CD/DVD drive one was/is SATA and one is on UEFI? I have tried both during my attempts but possibly didn't do the right format etc on the relevant drive I.e. UEFI?
I can't provide PC info at the moment, will have to go through an earlier post later however I confirm I'm trying to reinstall with a Microsoft Windows 7 disk that came with the PC originally. Unfortunately I've got to go out and do some work nowand come back to this later.

I see it's a custom made rig. No support from Arbico?
Reset BIOS to Defaults. What BIOS version are you running? The latest appears to be 4501, when I look here
Did you disable Secure Boot before attempting to install Windows 7?
Have you tried an alternate disc or OS?0 -
Hi NiftyD, yes it's an Arbico custom made pc. They were helpful but once I went for getting a new Hard drive myself then they left me to my own devices unsurprisingly.
Bios version = 0402
No didn't disable secure boot as far as I know and I haven't tried an alternative disc or OS as I don't have another one.
I've clicked OK to load optimized Defaults but I'm afraid I still haven't figured out how to use MBR format even having read the link you gave?0 -
Disable Secure Boot before attempting a Windows 7 install.
ASUS P8H61-M LE R2.0?
This is not the Motherboard that you suggested in your other thread.
Your other thread has you with a P8H61-M LE/USB30 -
Sorry? To clarify exactly what it says on the screen:
ASUS EFI BIOS Utility-EZ Mode
P8H61-M LE/USB3
BIOS Version : 0402
CPU Type : Intel (R) Core (TM) I5-2500 CPU @ 3.30GHz
Total memory : 4096 MB (DDR3 1333KHz)
Build Date : 04/01/2011
Speed: 3300 KHz
On the Boot menu there are three options:
SATA: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7260S
SATA: ST1000DM003-1CH162
UEFI: SATA: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7260S
Just noticed the inclusion of SATA in the UEFI Boot option?
Hope this helps? Thanks0 -
Can I still disable secure boot in the pc's present state, I can't locate the relevant command in BIOS?0

Perhaps you can consult the manual.
As an aside, if you have a look in post #24, there is no 0402 BIOS version.
It could be an OEM version. I would prefer to check that before updating to a later version.0 -

Thanks for that. Not sure what to do now. I've looked at the manual but not sure what I'm looking for except wondering about trying to update the BIOS (I have an ASUS disk that came with the pc originally). Otherwise I guess I go to a local repairer or just get another PC maybe from John Lewis to be on the safe side (Both are my wife's preferred options as she can see I am floundering a bit)

Just to add, I've had a look inside case and the version number is not where the manual says it should be unless REV.1.02 is relevant? There is an 0402 printed on a tiny bar code label following on from a series of numbers (Inc MIBF 66-A05 whatever they mean?) I'll try calling Arbico I think.0
