Well if it is actually medium then surely it DOES explain the pains?

Doesn't explain the pains etc :(

It does if it's too soft for you, there isn't really any other reason the mattress could be responsible for the pains.

OP - you haven't said whether you feel that the mattress is different to the one you tried in the shop, or whether the label indicates that you have been supplied with the firm option.

    Just a quick update.

So the mattress feels a little softer (to me) than the one tried in store on the firm half. It does state firm on the label for both sides.

Can anyone recommend any other mattresses? Never had this bother before :(

I have a Hulsta metis bed - adjustable slats (with 12 year guarantee) which can be elevated top and bottom on each side of the bed (electronically operated version also available), latex mattresses with 10 year guarantee. Had it coming up to 10 years and it is just as good as the day it was delivered. Fantastically comfortable even when I had multiple muscle problems/swelling/hernia during pregnancy. Husband found it excellent post knee operation.

They aren't cheap - I think it was about £4,500 when we bought it - but they really do last. My parents have a Hulsta bed too and it is still going great after 46 years! Dad had multiple major cancer surgery a couple of weeks ago and can only lie on his side and is mainly bed bound at the moment - he is totally comfy now he is back home in his own bed.

Of course it still might not be right for you, but I consider it to have been money well spent.

.... think the mattresses were £1400.
  • Also looking at Factor beds direct. Anyone used them? A little anxious about ordering online, although they do allow returns...

I would never buy it online.
ARE you getting anywhere with JL, have they inspected it?
