Mattress question

Modern thinking is actually a supportive mattress, which isn't always a firm one. Maybe also look at lifestyle to see if anything you do is contributing to the sciatica, carrying a handbag, ironing and other repetitive actions all contrbuted to mine. I now have a fairly soft mattress and a memory foam topped and have never slept as well. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Do they still have them in store? If so, could you go and check again whether yours is notably softer than the display model?
Not sure how you'd prove it, but at least it would be a place to start.0 -
Call the furniture ombudsman.
I have a luxury one from JL, when I had a prob after 6 yrs, they bent over backwards to help, sending a store xpert to see me. I wasnt looking for a replacement as such but they were great/ it was glasgow store. they had a lady manager who really knew her stuff re beds.0 -
John Lewis are not
members but the furniture ombudsman could give advice0 -
Sorry, never got alerts that there were replies

So, it's on sprung wooden slats. Also tried with hardboard over these and same issue.
The bed doesn't feel hard at all (slept on much harder). I don't think it should be pining after 10 months?
My wife has seen a physio and has had her issue very much controlled. The problem is with this mattress, as every time she sleeps on it she is sore again, as am I.
Will call the furniture ombudsman. Will give JL a quick email first.
The mattress we have is the egyptian cotton 5000 one at £999. I can't post a link as I am a new user.0 -

If that is the one I just had a look on wayback to see if the description has been changed and on 24th August last year, so 9 months ago and just a month after OP purchased it was showing as a medium firmness so not something they have changed the details on recently0 -
It hasn't changed, but when you order you can specify if you want more or less firm.
The one in store had a medium and a firm side. We both lay on both sides and both preferred the firm. This was in line with their recommendation.0 -
So it sounds like they didn't notice your special order for firm and sent the standard medium.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

It's listed as firm on the order, but you could be right. Doesn't explain the pains etc
