Last summer, as threatened by Asda of losing my credit in April 2014, I switched my phone number to 3, All was ok until 25th April 2014, then got a text from Asda saying my SIM and transferred number would not work after 30th April. Contacted ASDA and they said text was a mistake, ignore it.
1st May, no network!!!! As promised by Asda, right on schedule.
Talked to 3... problem is with ASDA.
Talked to ASDA... Pete threatened 3 with a slander suit for blaming ASDA.
Talked to vodaphone, blamed by ASDA for the problem, no hope, they blamed everyone else.
The facts.
My sim works, with my number on other phones but not my blackberry!
Other sims work on my blackberry.
But only 3 no longer works on my blackberry.
All of the problems started on the exact date that ASDA predicted!
Nobody will accept that it could happen, so it didn't. But it did!
I have restored defaults, taken out the battery and all the other stupid tricks suggested, but the fact remains.... it HAPPENED, and all the protestations of innocence from 3 , ASDA and vodaphone only say how it can't happen, but no-one is prepared to answer how it COULD have happened. So sue me, Pete from ASDA/EE, I accuse ASDA of having caused my problem.

I'm not clear what you are saying. Using the 3 SIM in the BB, have you lost calls and data, or only data?
Can you call/text out, can you call/text in?
Have you asked 3 to change the SIM?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If your SIM works in other phones, as you state, then issue is likely with your Blackberry or an incompatibility with the 3 SIM. Which BlackBerry have you got?0
-
blackberry only a 2g version?0

Thanks for your interest, folks.
My BB is an 820, and is definitely 3g.
Problem is no network.....sos only.
Search network and it finds 3. But no network connects'
Use of a different sim....works great.
3 sim works great in my Nokia c3.
The only thing missing, since 30th April is a network connection on my number/sim in mmy BB, which function perfectly until 30th April..
Exactly as predicted by ASDA on the 25th April.
Pete at ASDAMOBILE swears it is a coincidence. Everybody suggests I buy a new phone or a different number/sim.(Who profits from that)
But nobody wants to find out how it happened, just telling me it can't happen. It did!
Is there anybody out there who got the text from ASDA on or around 25th April threatening cut off? What happened on the 30th April.
I wonder if they all took the standard advice and bought a new phone.0 -
Oh and macman, 3 changed my sim, attributed my number to it, and the end result was the same....no network on my BB, but great on my c3.0
-
Just for the record, here is the text I received from ASDA.COM 25/04/2014 @1731;
"Urgent: This sim will not work after 30th April and you will loseyour number. If you want to keep this number call 2732 now or visit asdamobile.com/PAC by 30th April."
I contacted asdamobile, was told I had no account with them, but they still had my number to text to!0 -
You are giving too much importance to the mistakenly sent text. The fact that your SIM works fine in the C3 tells you that your account and number are OK.
I don't t think there is a BB 820, if its an 8220 then your problem is that 3 have detected the use of an incompatible phone and blocked it.0 -
Hi techhead, Its a Blackberry 8520 smartphone (EDGE wifi)
If 3 have detected ettc surely they would know it and unblock it. I spent several hours yesterday with their tech support without resolution. And why would they suddenly do that anyway, on the 30th April? BUT..... if they could do that, is it beyond belief that maybe ASDA could still do it somehow, as they threatened?0 -
Just to make matters clear what sim are you using and have you checked your network settings are correct on the phone .0

According to GSMarena is a 2G phone, EDGE is not 3G.0
