I have always considered self employment, but haven't found my niche yet Watty, I suspect I will know when it arrives. In a funny way, I think that the focus on financials may be keeping me from discovering it. A lot of people manage to start businesses/side businesses based on their interests; it sometimes feels like I deliberately repress mine to avoid lifestyle inflation

    Take it easy all :coffee:
Ooh, thats a *very* good way of putting it, ed. You might start up a sideline in blogging? It'd be for the future, but think of Jack Monroe - politics plus food! And you sound like you do most of the cooking, at the moment, anyway - politics, food, finance, I bet you'd eventually get a book deal out of that :j

Just be careful Ed with SE ... i tried it ... enjoyed it but found my issues were i struggled to charge so landed up working for free lol ... It's the INFJ in me i reckon, the part that cant watch people suffering... Maybe the answer is ( for me ) do a totally different type of SE something where people are not paying you to ease suffering lol
Very good point, El. As a therapist, it can be tough, for this very reason. The only way I've been able to cope is to make ground rules for myself: no one starts off on reduced rate; no phone calls after 9pm or at weekends; maximum 4 people on reduced rate at any time. If someone calls up, maximum 15 minutes. Without those, I'd have been a lost case years ago ...

You people think I'm a good INFJ, no plans for a career with a halo at present :D

I'm thinking blogger !!! shonky financial pundit - I tells ya - expect 12% return on your equities :rotfl:

Apparently the three letter word I put in where those exclamation marks are is obscene. Perhaps it was the comments about downloads wot did it?

    Brillant :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

INFJ: Lord help me not be a perfectionist. (did I spell that correctly?)

    :rotfl:

After my morgenskive, got a huge amount of office work done yesterday, left myself thoroughly brainsausted

I am going to have to slow down today so that I don't run out of stuff to do by Friday, at which point I'll need to start scouting around for some project work :o

My awesome prediction of ISA falls came true, just a shame I didn't spread bet on the outcome (not), everything behaving as expected, shares go down, bonds go down.

Yesterday's dinner of 10 minute PC vegetable stew with vegetarian meatballs was a big hit with the boss, I think I am winning her round to the taste and cost benefits of mostly veg ;)

Bored, 3 weeks to the money shuffle...

Nothing to any pots, ended up owing myself £43 after the ISA payment yesterday, although I paid in a £70 refund from Np0wer, and a couple of vouchers are selling for £30 or so on the bay of e.

My SIPP rose yesterday. You're obviously in the wrong funds :naughty:.

My company pension (also self-invested) fell by more than the SIPP's gains :rotfl:.

In context, we're talking about a 0.0625% fall, that could be a rounding error if they weren't from the sainted Vanguard stable :D

I look at SIPPs and think 'brill, I could buy £140 units at c. £115 and sell them for £119 after tax', but then I remember how long it is likely to be before I can cash out...

In the short term, ISAs appear to be the only game as I'm not smart enough to earn a higher tax rate salary :rotfl:

Wonder if there are any MB offers on today...

    INTP.

From Wikipedia: "Their weaknesses include poor organization, insensitivity to social niceties, and a tendency to get lost in abstractions."

"They also tend to be impatient with the bureaucracy, rigid hierarchies, and the politics prevalent in many professions."

"INTP type was one of the four most common among musicians"

Basically confirmation the "real world" doesn't suit me.
    2018 totals:

    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500
