How do you even know there's 11,000 calories in the goose fat?

Just a wee bit of mental maths! The jars tell you how many calories are in 20g, then just a bit of multiplication :)

That makes sense now, I hadn't realised the information would be on the jars. :)

I shall investigate SL, that sounds like my idea of heaven. I don't think we could have it as part of the lawn (poor drainage), but wild Greek oregano would do well in pots I think. We got married in Greece, so many memories :)

I always planned to make a "turf seat" (adapted to stools) after seeing one at Hampton Court Flower Show, years ago - the designer had planted it with camomile rather than turf but I always fancied thyme and oregano as herbs I use more and as you say, they are evocative of other places. I can't insert the image on this device but if you google camomile seat there are examples for ideas. You could go very simple and make one from a crate filled with grit and soil so the drainage is good - the key thing will be the weather. Ours survived the snow in the lawn but in a more exposed container you may need some protection

I have ox-eye daisies in an old drawer, no kidding - a crate would be fine, and you could fit more oregano in :)

When did cinema tickets start to cost £12+?!!!

Found myself with an unexpected few hours off this afternoon, but I'm not spending that sort of money. I can buy 3-4 secondhand Blu Rays for that, or stream a similar amount of movies.

I can remember being in London in 2008-09 and thinking that it was a great thing that Leicester Square was the only place where you'd spend £xx on a cinema ticket - now it's everywhere!

On a random note, if anyone is looking for cheap prescription glasses/sunglasses, I found this deal on HotUkDeals. I got a nice pair of prescription sunglasses for £23.99 delivered :) Pleased, as I'd been struggling to find anything under £50.
  • If you insure something cheap, like a bike, with a premium of about £5 through compare the market, you can claim 2 for 1 movies all year. Of course if you also have to pay a babysitter it may not be worth it for you!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I managed a policy for £2 last year to get the deal, it has run out now and am waiting until we want to see something before getting another one.
