I remember my Mum saying to us, if he's crying, you know he's not dead. As a parent, I feel you can also tell what sort of crying is going on too...
BTW I have not yet tried the Malbec or Grenache but I did buy a bottle of the white on your recommendation and will try that first (the reds were not on offer but £8 is my reasonableness threshold). We go to the highlands for a week's tramping (in the hills, not living rough) at the end of March - to a large s/c house with 12+ people so I was thinking of then as I will be drinking again by then (I am being very abstemious while on my 8-week low blood-sugar diet).Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £865.15 in January against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2026 I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026 - currently £138.39 for January and a bigger target of £300 for February, with lots to stock up on

Great progress with the sleep training - long may it last. Its not a fun job but it makes a big difference to your life when you can pop them into bed and they sleep through most of the time.MortgageStart Nov 2012 £310,000

14 hours per week!
... starting to understand why you're doing the sleep training now, Ed.
In other news, I assume you're pleased with the rugby result.

I found the first couple of nights horrendous! But, it was taking us 4+ hours a night to try and get DS to sleep and we - including him - were just too tired for it to continue the way it was.
Now, unless he's teething, he sleeps 8pm til 6:30am with pretty much no problems. Takes him about 20 minutes to fall to sleep, with us putting him in his cot awake and leaving him to it
he's a much happier child for it, too. Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
