So we have our MCS certificate, should be able to submit our application for FITs tomorrow. Will submit one online and post a copy via next day delivery as well to be on the safe side, seems a worthwhile precaution for something that should pay out for 20 years?

They have started (politely) chasing for payment, didn't feel up to telling them it'll likely be Friday because I miscalculated my CC bill :o

Think there should be another £20-25 of MBs to be placed this evening, it feels nice to be earning a wee bit of extra money again. I think I need to get my 'long term' head back on - £25 might not be that much, but it's a 7%? pay rise for 15 minutes work a week. I think Mrs E gets *no* salary Feb-Apr, these little things matter more than ever, even if I CBA.

Also thinking (shock horror) about some eB@y selling come the new year as we need the space now. There are possibly 5-6 large boxes of stuff that literally won't fit in our new house. I've made a start (of sorts), old TV and DVD player being donated to parents' holiday home.

Electrician in today and tomorrow, we will hopefully be able to start decorating for Christmas this weekend.

DD can now roll in both directions (back to front and front to back). She might have been a late starter with rolling, but most of the babies that we know can only manage to roll onto their fronts and then get angry :rotfl:

We did ours online (with E0N, via e-mail) and got an e-mail confirmation right away (auto-responder stating that it would be processed within 6 weeks). However, we got an e-mail from customer support about a week later asking to resend one document which was illegible thanks to data compression, and our application was fully processed about a week after that.

TL,DR; perhaps wait a few days before paying to post the application as the online one might process by then and you'll save yourself the postage fee. (I'm assuming you won't make the equivalent money in 2-3 days of FIT payments - if so I'm moving up to Scotland :rotfl:)

My concern re. posting was more having something 'legally admissable' that proves we submitted documentation/had a valid install at a date before the tariffs drop. TBH, this is probably overkill, suspect it's the installation date (not the registration date) that counts. Still, not risking ££££ over £, no matter how silly it may be :)
  • For us it was the date of application (so technically we lost ~40p while waiting for the certificates from the installer to submit our application). Might be worth checking though. :)

FWIW, they counted the date of us sending our e-mail as our application date, so the fact that it took 2 weeks to get them legible documents didn't count against us.

Different supplier for us, but another one of the big 6, so will hopefully have similar processes. Think we have enough time in any case, looking forward to February? for the next set of payments :j

Ah, yes, sorry - misread your counting of the install date as the date for FIT registration. Yes, I think you could register for FIT in 6 months' time if you wanted and since the install date is pre-tariff drop you'd still get the decent tariffs, you just wouldn't be paid for those 6 months of generation. (Our supplier counts the application date as when they'll start counting.)

I'm confused - we'll be registering a.s.a.p. - not sure where the 6 months thing has come from? Probably me writing badly! :)

Yes, sorry, I was just illustrating a point! :) That even if you did wait for 6 months to register the install date would mean you should get the current tariffs as it's based on install date rather than registration date.

    Ah right, gotcha!

Loving our solar panels already, considering an off-grid shed next (small panel and an AGM battery) :)

Nice. I've been thinking about a shed-as-office for our next (forever) house and I like the idea of having it be off grid. :)
