Doesn't matter about language though - not damaging fittings and making things level are about taking pride in your work :(.

Totally agree GG (tried adding you to the multi-quote twice, but it isn't liking you this morning!)

    :)
Don't worry, they don't work like that :)

The pipes on most radiators actually come up from the floorboards and are attached to the *bottom* of the radiator. So even though the radiator is very large, it's fine as long as your boiler is up to the task of pumping water around the system. The pipes will be fairly standard in size.

That's how mine works, but thought the "fancy" ones(hgher up the wall) have either the pipes into the wall or coming through from the back so you don't see the pipe at all from the floor. My brother has exactly this in his bathroom, luckily he has a cupboard behind the wall its attached to, so you don't see any pipes:)
Didn't see any pipes in the photo you showed us of the type you are buying.

I stand corrected! We had a towel radiator that was plumbed as I mentioned, mebbe it was done wrong?

I imagine it's a case of removing the skirting, tearing a channel a la electrics and bringing the pipe up through the wall cavity? Shouldn't be any worse than the mess the electrician is leaving

Sorry if that came across as patronising, I was being a know-it-all.

I've got the same towel rad - hence the floorboard story, but its not far up the wall, so its ok.

Had the vision they must destroy wall/plaster, skirting etc (to me, nightmare).

and you weren't coming over as patronising at all:rotfl:as I said i'm a bit of a perfectionist and like to know how they do things before being done.:) annoyingly so, :o I must get out more.:D

As my mum said re- my hall and stair carpet - if you had wanted to make an ar.. of it, you could have done it yourself:rotfl:

I must do more of that - wiring run *over* the plaster, instead of being channelled in :o

I've said almost exactly that to a fair few plasterers in my time - they seem to be very complacent towards women, sometimes!

Ed - I have a big towel warmer in my tiny bathroom that acts as a radiator, and it has exactly the input and output you describe. The only things at the top are the fittings that hold it to the wall :p

If you're looking at the shiny end of the lightbulb spectrum, my totally uncool suggestion is Am@zon.
    • Their purchasing power means that they can beat almost anyone on price bar eBay sellers
    • Massive amounts of reviews
    • Refunds - very few retailers will honour a refund 18 months after a product fails. I've returned many LED bulbs past this point because they have a stated life of 10+ years

They currently have a 4 for 3 offer on many household goods that include lightbulbs. You can mix and match across ranges.

Savings can be huge - our single biggest win was 90%+ in our 3rd bedroom :)
  • Thankyou.
Off to look. We have been so busy we have about ten bulbs not working. Maybe this is the moment!
