Yes it has Ed, difficult to estimate but value in 2012 was £230k which is why we held back for so long with the 250 stamp duty threshold. Value now around £380 ish but most of that was rising prices, Its upped the value by more than the cost though, probably 45k maybe.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Reminds me of another story,of over 40+ years ago, when my mum took my then "baby" brother to my Grans. He was teething, crying and wouldn't sleep. My gran who had 8 of a family said to my mum "He won't sleep, give him to me" took him through to the kitchen and came back with a sleeping baby about 5-10 mins later.
My mum said - how did you manage that. My Gran said, stuck his dummy in some whisky - out like a light. Of course, nowadays that would never happen;).
So don't be opening your "good" bottles of whisky, now, will you.:)Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -

Gotcha - nothing dearer than £40/btl :rotfl:
[Mini rant]
Why are contractors (even good ones with a solid reputation) so bloody cackhanded? Our plumbers got muddy footprints and brick dust everywhere, cracked a cupboard hinge and cleaned up with our hippy nappy liners (approximately 20x the cost of kitchen roll). Our electrician has already managed to crack our kitchen bin and mysteriously break a socket that was working fine until the day before he arrived. He will fix it for free, which seems..... nice.
[/Rant over]
We have a shiny new circuit board with fuses that aren't pieces of wire in scorched brown plastic. I strongly suspect that electrician will be another day and a bit, Mrs E has been encouraged to go to her parents, not sure if that's such an improvement as they have builders in too.
Nearly at the end of phase 1. Solar panels will be delivered Friday, vet Friday, oven delivered and fitted Saturday, Christmas tree up Saturday, solar panels fitted Sunday, radiators to be delivered 8-14th, then prepare for family Christmas party on 19th. December is looking like it will surpass November in terms of expenditure, my 0% credit cards are groaning. The Micawber principle has been temporarily suspended due to leaves on the line....0 -
Got you about the first phase being whats finishing. Thats enough! And Mrs Ed going to her parents *is* a good idea: they're not her builders, she isn't the primary woman in the house.
Micawber. Who he?
He gone
Just keep your head above water, kiddo, you'll be fine. 2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Back to the topic of making money (not spending it)! £185 to P2P lending, £131.98 to S&S ISA to add to our bond fund. New total £15,311.25 @ 10.23% after fees and tax. Lots of new secured property loans being added to some of the platforms that I use, should help to bring investments closer to their target allocations. Will start £50/m DD into something more S&S like come January.
£185/m needed to keep loft conversion on track.
Trying to spend minimal pennies today.0 -
Well I've joined the lend!ng crowd crew, totally overwhelmed by the choices, decisions decisions!!0

I'd just divide your money between everything, you can get reasonable diversifiaction and an ok return that way

We are going for 'modern vintage' (throws withering glance at self) for the house. Hall and living room will have a mix of modern (vertical radiators, up-to-date electrics and LEDs for some fittings, stripped wood) and vintage (classical colours, a few designy touches and a relaxed feel). Found these lightbulbs, should go great with the hall light.0 -
Those lightbulbs look cool! Also like the light.

Now this is the light that made me smile when I unboxed it!0

Brilliant lights. You've made me want new ones now
