I didn't hear back from them yesterday, not filled with good vibes.

On the other hand, we've just paid off our September holiday, so at least I don't have any other pressing financial obligations in the short term (bar the mortgage) :rotfl:
  • Morning Mr E, look on these interviews as practise ones for the real one :)

    How's the HB coming along?

In other matters - are the fish still swimming in mud or has your experiment worked :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hi Mr E,

Impressed by your half marathon. Not a feat I ever contemplate completing, - half marathon runners are probably a pretty rare bunch. A bit like fell runners. I tried this once. I was absolutely shattered after about a third of the circuit. It was a staggered start. There I was, only 2 hours in, and in the space of around 40 minutes I reckon almost the whole of the rest of the field scampered pass me. Going downhill. It was an unfair race - they were all mountain goats in disguise.

With work, it's a bit like working for yourself. You never know what's going to happen and just have to take one day at a time. My advice, if you are planning to stay in Glasgow and expecting to travel some distance to work, is to avoid applying for anywhere on the A737 or the M77. They are horrible roads in rush hour, in both directions. Especially the M77. That's a rush hour journey that will ruin your enjoyment of life long before any job would. Just imho :-)

    Happy Friday all

    Very well :)

75% of the stout is now gone and as is the style, it now tastes nice...

The fish are quite happy and survived our trip to the Western Isles without incident. Tbh they're proper porkers, I think the diet did them good!
    • I never heard back from interview #2. I think that's poor form, so they probably weren't for me
    • Work has been tough but busy this week, plodding on, making a positive contribution and trying to step back from the brink :o
    • More job applications tomorrow, a few around audit and accountancy
    • Set up various matched bets for Mrs E and I (she's decided that she CBA with it, so I'm setting them up for her and charging 10% commission :p)
    • Reading 'A Clergyman's Daughter' by Orwell. Not critically acclaimed, but very funny in parts and has some great descriptions of rural England and Cockney dialect that's probably long gone...
    • Feeling relaxed, healthy and glad it's the weekend.
    • Taking this weekend and next week off, then back to the running

It's a good read Al, I suspect that you would be amused by the shrewish private school owner explaining how much corporal punishment can be meted out to children based on their parent's timeliness as regards the paying of fees ;)

Woke up feeling chirpy this morning and did a mahoosive spring cleaning style shop at HB and L1dl. Was mortified to become an old woman babe magnet while buying groceries, no fewer than 3 stopped to talk to me in detail about cooking. It is a sad thing that a youngish guy buying fresh veg elicits so much amazement in Glasgow

Didn't get job from interview #2. Good, they had poor manners and made me feel quite uncomfortable :T

That does leave me with the predicament of another weekend of applications. I suppose it could be worse - Mrs E is currently up t her elbows in suds cleaning the bathroom.

Various matched bets set up for today, should be £30 or so between us.

Feeling very clear headed for a Saturday. Mrs E has currently got us on minimal booze, so only one beer yesterday evening. The HB will last ages at this rate!

Hoping for a relaxed weekend, I hope everyone else has fun too.
  • Hello,

I love Orwell too, and that one is very underrated. I love the hop picking part as my great aunts used to go hopping and I recognise them... Have you tried 'keep the aspidistra flying?'
