You can ask Edinburgher, mine was delayed due to probate so no choice really but have heard of folk getting asked to delay and as long as the end person is happy all goes well, otherwise you might end up having to move out for a while to parents or something?

    Quick house gussying up questions:
    • A couple of tactically placed air freshener thingies (Gl@de A1rwick or similar) - good thing in case of unrealised foostiness?
    • Replace bathroom silicone + whiten grout - worth the effort?
    • Clean bathroom towels - yes, or none to show off large shiny heated towel rail?
    • Sand and attempt to paint smallish areas of cracked paint in kitchen, tactically place bright homely bowls of colourful fruit and veg to distract people from the cracked paint/both?
    • Slate heart on front door with something like 'welcome' written on it - too much?

Before trying to replace silicone/grout, do you have an old electric toothbrush head? I use mould and mildew spray with the toothbrush and it comes up as good as new, just ignore the colour that drains away!

Edit-I read once that freshly brewed coffee or freshly baked bread smells are good and welcoming.

Good idea AJM, but the silicone is cracked next to the bath (I don't think they had weighed the bath down before applying it?) Got a free mould zapping grout whitener pen, so at least that is MSE!

Moving house expensive, already committed to something like £1,000 costs and we aren't even on the market yet

Wow Ed, I come on here for a catch up and you're selling up. Us too! Fund the perfect house on rightmove last week. We viewed it amd ours should be on the market in the next 48 hours!

We have a shabby chic chalkboard I was so tempted to write some kind of subliminal message on to make someone buy it! Instead I removed the children's scrawl!

Air fresheners put me off - always wonder what people are hiding! They also make me cough.

I wouldn't care about the grout, and would wonder if you were 'my sort of household' if you had twee hearts.

Look like you are happy together - that's the thing that always works for me - happy people in a happy house.
  • Just lost a post saying the same about air fresheners.
If you want fragrance, get a reed diffuser and chuck out the stink that comes with it then replace the liquid with a decent (neals yard or tisserand) aromatherapy blend.
    Then open all your windows.

Another one here who detests artificial air fresheners. Aside from the chemicals (why do people think it's a nice idea?!) they make me sneeze :D I'd just go for clean and tidy. Whitening grout is a good idea (although a mild bleach spray and old toothbrush work wonders - but either do it in the nude or with old clothes on which you don't mind potential bleach marks! :D) and I personally do look at silicone on baths and showers.

Not liking the idea of slate heart - unless you have other stuff like that around, as I'd think it was just for show, as opposed to being 'real'
