Extend the ones you've got for a few more months - if you do that with each set of work clothes, you'll bring FI closer2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That is pension payments only. I could increase them once the mortgage is out the way. I've got my share save aswell, although I'm no sure what I'm going to do with that when it matures. Maybe I'll save it, or maybe I'll find a more interesting plan for it0 -

Haha - I wish I'd read that before I hit the shops
I actually ended up spending considerably more than I would on work shoes normally, in fact it was the most expensive pair of shoes I've *ever* bought
Consoling myself with the fact that they have a Goodyear welt, so can be resoled :money:
Shirts weren't too bad, 4 for £61 from M&S outlet, not too annoyed with that. Some of my current shirts are 4 years old, so time to retire them. Had a £30 voucher for M&S (gift for daughter, I bought it off her as I didn't even realise that M&S sold baby goods...)
CBA buying a suit, questioning whether or not I need one anyway. Definitely need suit trousers (at least one pair of current ones are borderline assless), but I seldom go to meetings. Perhaps I'd be fine just getting new shirts and trews? Wish I was one of those techy guys who could get away with jeans and casual shirts, but the few meetings I do attend would frown on me for looking like an amateur poker player :rotfl:
Nackered now, must be 20 degrees out and I loathe shopping.Ed/ all

Cheers, just a bit of financial planning for those of us who don't end up with glamorous contracts in the ME0 -

See, I've got my M&S sizing down pat now, but they no longer have a website for their Outlet stores (my stockist of good quality reduced work clobber for years), so that necessitates a real life trip. Same with shoes, the moment I guess sizes I end up buying a brand that makes a small/large 11 :mad:0 -
Ed, just wanted to say how much I wish I had been as clued up on all of this FI stuff when I was younger. Looking back with the wonderful benefit of hindsight, I could have transformed my life. Min stead I followed the herd, many the worst offenders were my parents and my ex husband. I remember saying that it would be good to pay off the mortgage and I was laughed at and called a tightwad. If only I had had the courage of my convictions back then.
Anyway, it is never too late and even with a late start, oh 2 and I will retire at the relatively elderly ages of 55 and 58. But even so, most of our friends will be working to 65, certainly my ex husband will.
What I am saying in a roundabout way is how much I envy your very well informed start to family life! All the best,
Squirrel xPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

this is my third) and that takes time to recoup from, financially.
Even at my age (and I hate saying that, but its true), what's been invaluable to me recently is to know that people who are actually pretty well off still save money on little things, thats very empowering.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I'm one of those techys. Today I wore Jeans, a Dangermouse t-shirt and my skate shoes. That's after getting changed from my bike gear from riding my monkey bike to work since it was sunny0
